Yes, yes it is. It's also a Manuel Schleis (Vengeance) preset

the secret to that sound is the viruses nice waveshaper distortion.. speaking of that has anyone found a similar vst? ive tried a ton of waveshaper vsts but can't find one like the viruses

Can I please have some of what you're smoking.

Virus sounds a hundred times better then the best vsts out there. Deeper, darker, richer and brighter. If you can't hear that, you can't hear.

Sideing chaining the volume of your entier song, to your kick. Is also the best sounding effect to most.

List more songs like that then fingers you have and you still prove nothing. (and I doubt you could even find that many to begin)

Virus is cheddar cheese
FM8 is imatation cheddar cheese

It’s a real shame that Novation have missed the train with regards to the Supernova Series.

With their experience of making various integrated synths, controllers and V Station I’d imagine they have some of the most relevant expertise and could make a beast of an synth with the Supernova 2 and total integration.

I had a virus c and sold it and to be honest I miss it.

Gladiator comes close but nothing seems to have the darkness of the Virus.

To the guys dissing the virus... Did you onlly ever use the standard patches? Do you know anything at all about sound design? And the guys dissing the sound quality of the TI... Did you only ever use the USB outs instead of the Analog Outs?

I have a Virus TI and it shits all over any of the synths (soft and hard) I have ever used, including anything mentioned in this thread.

If you know even know a tad about synthesis the Virus can make pretty much any sound ever created. And the amount of things you can program are insane. The "soft" knobs at the bottom of the virus or the modulation control on your keyboard can be programmed to do a heap of things at once as you turn them, and if you get a good combo you can do some freaky stuff.

The possibilities are literally infinite. I recommend it to anyone that wants to get real serious with their productions and has the dough to lay down.

i dont agree. yeah it has good efex but the pure OSC isnt really all that. Try playing a saw or square without any effect and do the same on a lets say Nord afterward.

virus is a synth focusing on quantity instead of quality, u have to add three oscs and two, three multis before getting a strong rich lead. Ok im exaggerating very much here but i don't really think its so good as people want it to be, and you can do whatever it can on software too.

im just saying, VAs is pretty pointless as hardware today. IMO!

another thing about the virus that i hate is that it has such recognizable sound, u know it IMMEDIATELY if someone used a virus in their track. Im starting to hate its sound as much as i did with the 303 in the 90s, and as i do with today's side-chaining.

Alrighty then, shall we put our money where our mouth is? Click on the links in my sig and tell me which sounds were made with the Virus. I'll even give you a few hints: (1) almost every one of the 20 songs (but not all of them) uses at least one Virus patch and (2) there are few, if any, Virus factory presets in any of them.

edit: clarification on the second point - in hindsight, there may be a few factory presets (possibly lightly tweaked) in some of the songs, but most are custom sounds.

Thanks!

You've gotten some of the obvious ones having that typical Virus supersaw lead sound, but you've missed a ton of the others, many of which are very prominent. For example, (without giving away the answer) one of the first two songs is dominated by Virus sounds, but they don't sound like the huge Virus leads that many people have become accustomed to hearing and recognizing. Regardless, that runs counter to your assertion that any song containing a Virus is instantly recognizable. In other words, a Virus doesn't have to sound like a huge arpeggiated lead sound - it's a very versatile synth and I doubt that even the guys at Access could tell you definitively whether or not a custom patch in a song is a Virus or not.

And, to your credit, some of the sounds that you thought were a Virus were admittedly programmed to sound like a typical Virus supersaw lead (as were several others that you didn't identify/may not have even listened to). But, that just adds weight to my opinion that, in reality, a Virus isn't all that unique in terms of its "sound" - it can sound like a LOT of things and a lot of other synths can sound like a Virus.
