About Andy not playing classics on Saturday...
Like someone said, its sort of tough to tell a guy like Andy Moor that he HAS to play a certain style. Yeah, it would have made the night truly epic if he had gotten into it the theme. But I can see how at first glance, the idea of a "classics-themed" night could possibly come off as a gimmicky type of party to a dj of Andy's stature. Obviously thats not the case...its a once-a-year event that has become a NYC tradition at this point...but I can see how it could be tough to convey that to someone who's never been to one.
Either way, I actually enjoyed his set. Its always a pleasure sharing the decks with him. |
I would approach it as such "Yo listen, we are inviting you to play at our annual classics night, in which the bulk of the evening, the DJ's are asked to play their choice of classic tracks....its a great night we have every year, and we would love it if you could join us in continuing the tradition....."
its not insulting to ask a guy who has been a great talent for many years to play older tracks perhaps whoever invites the next guest just PREFACES the conversation, that it is, in fact, a classics night
(again, his set was great, so not complaining here......)
btw El- Find...
