Those people have always had sense though. I would think that losing them makes you go insane, not a complete lack of them in the first place.

They would not even exist like a non-human animal. Even animals require sensory stimuli for full neural development.

Why do you say that? Got a study or something?

I don't think a person born entirely without senses would be "insane," they just would not have much of a mind in the first place. Other than autonomic functions, the brain is devoted to assimilating sense experience, coordinating the body's movements in the world, and communication. The parts of the brain devoted to those things develop only if a person actually does them: people paralyzed early have very underdeveloped motor areas, people born blind have underdeveloped sight areas, etc. A person without senses would not be doing any of those things for development, so what would their brain be devoted do, and how would it develop at all?

Not a study, but other primates will grow sickly and even die if raised simply without social contact, let alone deprived of all their senses...

Provided continued existence, do you think this child would develop human-level intelligence and come to question the nature of their existence and location? Or would the absolute absence of external stimulus prevent them from doing anything but existing like an animal?

Seeing as reality and every way we interact with it is dependent upon our senses, I think they'd be and forever remain a vegetable. I'd say most if not all animal life would be more alive than this supposed child, sense they can react to external stimuli.

Humans actually have at least nine senses. Vision, hearing, smell, taste, touch, balance, temperature, pain, and proprioception (position of parts of your body relative to each other).

Well yeah, that's why I wrote 9 instead of 5. Jeez.
