Cool synths and effects, poor arrangement interface and piano roll, you cant adjust the size of the windows nor make your own key commands.

Gotta disagree here. I LOVE the piano roll and arrangement interface in Reason (I take it you have maximised it to fill the screen?) I can work quicker there than any other DAW. In fact I vastly prefer it to the piano roll in Ableton Live 7 which I rewire Reason into. I so love the workflow in Reason that if it supported VSTs I would dump Live in an instant. Horses for courses I suppose.

Yeah Reason users tend to love both the piano roll and arrangement, i find them to be very cluttered to work with.

Anyways one of the really strong points is its stability, the program seems to be dead stable, which is something that probably would not be the case if VST support where to be integrated.

i think that when you produce music 5+ years, there is no sense to use reason, it's just limiting yourself. but for beginners is great and yes you can achieve pro quality with it. and it's not more difficult than with other DAWs, its just a matter of taste.

I been using for a couple of days now rewired into cubase and I have to say that I am just treating it like a few extra vsts. Mainly the subtractor I just love the velocity response section. I had a go for drums but vs loading the samples into cubase and processing them as audio it totally lost out. Even though the redrum has some cool features such as the 8+9 exclusive thing to give realism to hi hats I still would only use it for hats, snars and kicks are just better compressed and processed in cubase.

Good fun though and when making an acid riff or whatever the matrix is such a timesaver to just hear a quick pattern.

Processing a highly structured and complex pattern of sensory input as a unified percept of "music" is probably one of the most elaborate features of the human brain.....understanding how music is perceived and how it may elicit intense sensations is far from being understood.
