my pc I built about a year ago. I got way more computer than if I bought a mac. The enitre set up including dual 22" monitors, 950w power supply, case, HDs, dvd burner, was about $1400 a year ago. Its a beast and it does not matter what I through at it I have no issues with my CPU usage or ram.

REALLY? WHOA! WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT? YOU CAN PLUG A WHOLE MOUSE... INTO A MAC?! AND IT WORKS?!... A WHOLE MOUSE?! slow down spaceman, your technology baffles me.

we're talking about macbook touchpads. even if i WAS dumb enough to think you can't plug a mouse into a macbook, your point would be invalid.

my shit computer that has a proper keyboard. again, irony.

i'm going to add a bit more fuel to the fire, just because i love winding up you mac guys (you're such easy targets)... think your mac is super secure? i bet you'd be surprised to find that osx is consistently the most easily hacked operating system at virtually every competition. in most of these competitions, windows was unhackable out of the box, while osx got compromised in minutes. Eg:

2006: http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/securi...39241748,00.htm
2007: http://securitywatch.eweek.com/appl...wn_contest.html
2008: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/03/28/mac_hack/
2009: http://blogs.zdnet.com/security/?p=2917

fyi, i have a computer science degree. you can continue this discussion and see how deep the rabbit hole goes, but make no mistake, it will end in pwn. there is a reason pcs are more popular than macs.

dont come here and tell me that u like IBM touchpads better than the mac ones? thats just insane. All the crazy shit u can do with the mac touchpad is awesome.

scrolling up/down/left/right - two fingers up/down/left/right
go to bottom/top of page - three fingers up/down
switching apps - four fingers to the left or right.
to see all open apps - four finger down
to hide all apps - four fingers up

and as i said before:

up = home
down = end

also @ is his own button, not some alt gr + two. fucking awesome

and then u have hot corners - omg that is awesome.
and then u have up to 16 desktops which are really easy to switch in bewteen using hot corners.
then theres timemachine backup, all backup problems solved without doing shit.

when it comes to security i dont care. go ahead and steal my mp3s, ur welcome, good luck getting anything with my bandwidth.

btw all this security shit on windows is one the parts why i hate it, it takes fucking five minutes from you start your computer until u are on the internet, and still u get virus.

on the mac its like 5 seconds.

there there are updates. on windows you have to restart 10 times for every small update. on a mac u rarely have to restart.

that is sort of the problem,

you need a computer science degree to sort out all the kinks pcs present. I have the desktop but for the average user, the macbook just makes more sense. YOu should check out the average person's pc laptop and it is usually running at half capacity from all the bloatware.

The reason pcs are more popular is because business that purchase them can afford to pay a professional to maintain them. Unless you are a computer wiz , you windows pc will get slower and slower and slower ...

I have both...for less money....in fact Mac users have had plenty more issues with Ableton 8 than PC users.

Go ahead and tell yourself that's why you overpaid for your computer and if it makes you feel better great (just givin' you a little crap)

Seriously though back to the OP topic...if you like Macs get one you will be happy. If you like PC's get one and you will be happy. Bottom line is neither is perfect and each come with their set of strenghts and weaknesses.

You canīt go that route if you wanna use osx, unless you wanna do the hackintosh thing. I did,
saw that this would take up most of my time - fucked it - bought a mac mini. Super happy

Yes, I have no intention of using the hackintosh but I beleive the OP was about a general DAW not a hackintosh specificaly
