It's funny to think that I used to say these types of things myself. Now they make no sense to me. I'm not condoning complete computer illiteracy, but the notion that people need to understand all sorts of technical data about their computer can only be a result of a history of incredibly poor HCI design and even poorer reliability.

I like to believe that we're [almost] out of the dark ages. I rarely have to worry about crap like drivers or the registry anymore. I don't get that many random crashes or error messages. I reboot maybe a few times a year. Things run smoothly enough that the idea of "tweaking" just seems silly. I'll always have to know the techy crap because that's my industry, but the fact that most people don't seems as mundane to me as people not knowing how their cars or TVs work. As long as they work, why should it matter?

HA! I just seen another commercial! The girl is switching to a Mac. She says that "they say" moving from XP to Windows 7 would be a fresh start, but she also says that if she wants a real fresh start she'll switch to Mac instead because it's voted #1 in customer satisfaction. She wants to go with what she knows, and she knows that she'll have NO headaches with a Mac.

I'm convinced. I'll do as they say, scrap my existing system and switch to Mac!

My little brother goes to the University of Windsor, so i'm sure he's eligible, if we get this, you just need a valid copy of Vista, then install on top with tihs upgrade? And can it be installed on multiple computers? Like in the same household (mine, my bros and my moms)?

Totally going to take advantage of this, unless my school manages to grab it and have free licensed versions for us.

thats funny because Apple's sole success is being idiot-proof, and catering to a bunch of trendy sheep.

really?
because for me it's quite opposite.
for Mac I have no idea about the inner working of the stupid OS. Takes me forever to figure shit out to do a simple task. my boss loves Macs so I am forced to learn things about it but I always think of it as such a friggin pain because I know the same thing on PC will take 1/4 of the time.
Windows 7 is sweet. So far only one old program wasn't compatible but it's only because it's old.

I'm all for Windows, but in my opinion your comment about Windows taking a 1/4 the time might be inaccurate. Reason being that your so familiar with it as opposed to a Mac OS that it takes YOU a shorter time to get things done. I'll bet any user of a Mac would say the same about their operating system as the way you feel about yours. This could apply to other operating systems as well I'm sure.

I have have no problem with Mac, just their marketing techniques.
