Want to make it as a dj? learn how to mix... educated yourself on music and forge your own style. Create a brand out of yourself, make tracks. get as many gigs as u can.
of course its more complicated than that...but thats a start
getting booked locally (which is usually the first step in a dj's career) is a lot more than just knowing how to mix and having your own sound. you need to get out there and support certain events and maintain a presence in the scene. its all about networking. you cant just ask someone for a gig when people have absolutely no idea who you are or what you're about.
