Well i've had that same problem, i love all trance so what i do is start off with some slow dreamy trance just build up from there, ending with hard trance and or uplifting....

the reason (my take on the matter) its called trance is because it facilitates a journey into a head space.

Of course if you dabble in altered states your head space and journey there can be quite different on different occaisions and even throughout the night/day.

I started listening to trance and (yes this is a common thread i know) with uplifting ect and moved onto chilled out. But then i met an amazing girl who was into NRG, hard trance and hard house. When before i went to a recovery... now i go and crank on... stay on it and go harder and further.

I used to give trance the lable of being multi layered but i hadn't (before meeting this fine young lady) truly appreciated the fascinating degrees of amazing trips (this is multi layering) you can get in the harder stuff. the head space here is also awesome.

of course different times of the night produce different fav tunes. uplifting progressive sounds like rennaissance cd's are great to warm up (<1 hrs worth). get into the hard stuff anytime but earlier 2300-0200 is usually better. psy/tribal 0200-0300, before some one gives you some really fucked up musical mayhem at around 0400. at 0500 i enjoy the resurgence of progressive - hard tunes. by 0800 after some uplifting stuff... you need to go hard again to maintain the day. Of course by about midday and the early afternoon it is time to collect yourself and realise how others have experienced what you have with a good dose of shpongled. dont forget to eat because you'll need you energy for part two!

btw i was massively dissappointed with avb at adventjah last summer. the orb was indisputedly the most amazing act there. sent the little ravers scattering with a dub beat at mdnight. (i know this doesn't fit with description above but they took me away to the better place and my head space was euphoric to say the least as my body caverties resonated and i felt good).

la la la enough rabbitting on... thats my take on how harder is better at the moment. lastly... cheese should be permenantly incapacitated because it makes me want to spew and leave the dance floor. it is so hard to be on a trip with kids screaming about their favorite tune when it aint fab and -i dance for me not others. still at home alone it might be ok!..

c yah kids! jc.

I still like harder trance at the end of the night but am getting more and more into progressive and progressive breaks. I've got Sasha Ibiza, Seaman Melbourne and Satoshi Tomii Nubreed, Global Undergrouds on record and was wondering if anyone knows what other GU's ure available on vinyl in Australia and where?
This should probably be a seperate thread.

Smiley DJ Type of Trance

I must admit everybody when they listen to trance listens to uplifting first and then progress from there first. LAtely, through my progression of trance i have begun to favour hard trance remixes of classics such as Signum - COming on Strong and Binary Finary.

But no matter how much I listen to all the different types of trance there is nothing better than being in a club and the DJ ripping out an uplifting tune such as Tukan - Light a Rainbow etc etc. Its what strarted me on this trance journey and its what sends me in shivers just the thought of a room full of people banging to an uplifting tune. AS a great man said (me) SOME PEOPLE CALL IT TRANCE I CALL IT MAGIC
