I used it for projects about half the time but I don't have a bunch of samples that I just have to have before I send it off. I should probably create a nice sound font of this bass patch I made (it's the most powerful one I've ever heard) but I don't feel like it.

I believe Stephen lives in Dallas??? Show up at the guy's doorstep, check out the Virus in advance, wave $1150 under his nose, and I bet it's yours. To me, that extra $150 is more than worth it considering that you get to see/hear it and make sure it is in perfect physical and operating condition as advertised and take it home immediately, rather than buying a damaged one (potentially dropped!) from a questionable seller without even having seen it first.
Analog hadn't yet been reinvented.
Wish I could have found something like that in my area. Craigslist is great. Nashville, TN is my stomping grounds (unfortunately) - Nothing of the sort for sale around here.

If you want graintable, i'd go for another instrument. What instrument that is, i don't know, but the virus' representation of graintable synthesis really didn't differ much from their representation of format synthesis. In fact, everything kind of sounded the same from that instrument. ugh.
And not the fact that it is good for almost everything but excels at nothing. I know you strongly believe that, but there has to be some specific things that are pretty damn good about the Virus TI. Care to give it a little credit for certain things? Equally, feel free to pinpoint its biggest flaws.
