All my mixes are pre-planned, usually so everything's as harmonic as possible. I'll generally figure out the tracklist, make a draft mix, play it and then make a second or occasionally third draft until I'm completely happy with the flow and the programming.
This is why I'd never be able to play in a club, because everything good about my sets (other than the quality of the music) comes from the amount of planning I do. I figure that if I'm making a set for sharing and home listening, it should be as good as I can get it. It's more of a writer's work flow than a DJ's. |
Ditto for myself.
I really have nothing to say about this mix other than "well done". I enjoyed this a lot. Your progression, mixing and track selection are always spot on and I can't really offer any criticism.
Good work getting played on a radio show, though that guy is a muppet. Why wouldn't you at least get in contact with the person who made the mix to ask their permission? It's a bit silly to call someone a 'guest' on your show when they have never been invited.
