Mounting debt and more job losses as just released today, and the premier, mayor and a crew of troughers are off living it up in Guadalajara. Gotta love it!

When I initially heard about all this TST business, I was pretty appalled and thought....great another bright move for Moronto...Then I heard Shelley Carroll being interviewed on CFRB 1010 yesterday and she made it seem like this tax would come out of taxes we are already paying...aka more money for toronto specifically...anyways, I was a little confused but I'm very skeptical of this whole thing, especially in our current economic climate.

Dalton sent out a mass email this afternoon -- they must be sleeping on the job because the messed up the link to the PDF file within their email. The last bracket fucked them up (lol)

Earlier this year, you wrote to me expressing your views about Ontario's plan to merge federal and provincial sales taxes into a single HST. I appreciate the time you took to share your thoughts on the subject. And I want to take this opportunity to provide you with new information about our tax changes.

A recent report (Link) by Dr. Jack M. Mintz, Palmer Chair in Public Policy at the University of Calgary, studies the impact that our package of tax reforms, including the HST, will have on our economy.

Dr. Mintz's paper indicates that, within 10 years of the July 1, 2010, start of the HST, Ontario will benefit from:

* an estimated 591,000 net new jobs

* increased annual worker incomes of up to 8.8 per cent

* increased business investment of $47 billion.

As I indicated in my previous correspondence, we are merging these two sales taxes because it will strengthen our economy. Doing so will reduce costs for Ontario businesses - allowing them to make investments that will enable them to become more competitive and hire or retain more workers. In addition, we are cutting corporate taxes and personal income taxes for 93 per cent of all Ontario taxpayers.

To learn more about the tax cuts and rebates that will help you and your family through the transition, please visit www.ontario.ca/taxchange.

I hope you find this information useful. Please accept my best wishes.

Dalton McGuinty
Premier of Ontario

What a crock of shit. The tax personal tax cuts and rebates are temporary. Also, raise your hand if you think that companies will pass on the savings of HST rebates to their customers...... yeah i dont think so either.

In fact on many many industrial items, there are already PST exemption numbers which already saves companies the hassle of paying PST.

Best way to avoid this scam as a personal taxpayer is to become "self employed" and start writing off the taxes against your expenses.

Id like to know how exactly taking more money from the economy from sales taxes is going to create jobs???

Want to know the best way to create jobs through taxation? Lower or eliminiate the EI and CPP payments that companies must make on behalf of every employee. This amounts to a tax on employment and is actually a huge roadblock for medium and smaller companies when it comes to hiring staff. (and yes i know the conservatives want to raise them and im really pissed off about that)

Finally if we really have to have the HST at least lower it to 10% to help take the sting off. And exempt heating and gasoline at the very least.

Remember when dalton said he wouldnt raise our taxes??? bahahahahhaha

LOL.

Yes, raising taxes will improve our economy and create jobs! And a Nigerian prince will pay me $4 million if I give him my bank account number!
