just as my editor will write 'sho' instead of 'yo' in random e-mails because that is the way they pronounce it in Cartagena and it is understood that he is using deliberately.

It's kind of disturbing how you seem to think you're Argentinian. And if you wanted to "capture the Argentinian accent" you would have written it "vasha" which is how they really say it.
