The club is awesome and Guv is by a mile away with interior design however nobody can beat their main room space.
If this is true than it's terrible news because I have amazing times @ Circa

hmmmm....it seems any other large scale club has failed in Toronto so maybe Toronto doesn't need another Super Club.

The majority of club goers in Toronto stick to the entertainment district where there is a plethora of clubs that play what the majority wants, top 40.

Circa was a big shopping mall that played music.

If the dancefloor was bigger, it would be a decent place. But way its layed out, the sound system didnt sound that great and the dance floor was way too tiny compared to all the open/empty spaces on 2nd n 3rd floor.

not enough people in toronto go out to clubs anymore. Bars and restaurants are the new norm. Perhaps because people can go in and out easily to smoke?

You don't understand.
We need more super club's. Top 40 is the market and the market operates on how the money is beign supplied. Guv has been so long in the scene due to it's fearless ownership for business men taking a chance that trully paied off.
It'll be always nicer to have more mega club's because we all need variety.

From my observation, Toronto has never been more occupied on the weekends. There's youngster's everywhere and summer time the downtown core is absolutely packed. I don't know about smoking, most clubs do have designated smoking section's however since the bill has been passed there has been a decrease from some phines.

there are lots of people out. But no more big clubs. They are lounges and bars and restaurants now unless there is a really really big patio that ends up being packed at the expense of inside.

well its obvious Toronto doesn't need more super clubs because they will continue to fail. Toronto does not have a population like New York or a tourist population that can support super clubs.

The Top 40 market does not have loyalty to a club because they can go to pretty much any club and hear the same music and drink the same alcohol. Without a loyal clubber base a super club in Toronto will not survive.....there just isn't enough club goers. The Guv has a loyal crowd because they've been here and supplied music that is not being played in every other club for years and years.

I wish there was another superclub to go to other than guv. My friends are all sick of Guv, so no matter what DJ comes there, its will take a lot of convincing or most of the time, failure to go out with any of them.

And things will not change as we get older. Personally I can stand Guv unti I've had enough of the scene, but all my friends are pretty much done there. Lawler Canada Day and one other event that thats pretty much it for a year. If big Djs ever played at other venues, I'd totally be down. Cobra is probably the next best thing to a big DJ club I can attend on a regular basis.

The fact that the escalator was even in that club was part of the reason it failed...

It was not a practical nightclub space!!!

I've been saying that ever since I set foot in Lucid...

imo both clubs just failed in how they operated (boa, circa). The sad irony is that both places were resurrected twice and still failed. I'm not saying the bookings were bad, both clubs had some amazing dj's & talent play over the years and i loved boa/sonic but the formulas of how both places operated must have been incorrect if they both closed down. Toronto is a very difficult market to succeed in, you have to really know what you are doing before you attempt to step into Guv's territory.

One of Boa/Sonic's biggest issues was no liquor license...

No booze = no money and for a big place = death...
