Dutch spelling rules say that first names and last names are written with a capital letter...anything inbetween is in 'lowercase' (?)
UNLESS...you're writing Mister Van Dyk...because it's the first letter of the name then, instead of having the capital already in the name when you type Paul van Dyk
i'm not making sense eh?

Occasionally i'll see the spelling "Paul van Dijk". Is there any reason that its spelled like this, was someone just an idiot?

Does 'van' when used in names mean anything? I see it a lot in German and Dutch names, apart from PVD and AVB.
Thought it could be something like 'Bin' in arabic names which means 'son of'.

Isn't it true that if the person is "royalty" then the "V" becomes capital?...
so Paul van Dyk & Armin van Buuren are lower-case sine they are not royalty , yet for example if it was King Lars Van Dyk it WOULD be a capital V because of the royal connection??
