What, like the bitching and complaining about how this/that is not right that you're doing right now?
I don't agree with you. By disagreeing, people are simply expressing their own tastes in a alternate manner; you can't deal, too bad. And trying to gather consensus by saying you somehow "know" people will agree with you is really childish.
List is alright, definitely some solid talent on it, though in my version Magda wouldn't be on it at all, and Michelle Herrmann would. No love for Ben Sims or DJ Bone, either. |
I'd venture a guess that you are not the "Target Audience" of RA. RA does have a strong genre-bias - from the albums that they review, to the parties that they cover, and the DJs / Producers that they feature.
That attracts a certian audience to their website, and that audience is what was polled. I don't think RA has ever claimed to be an all-encompassing EDM resource.
If PoundingTechno.com had a top 100 list, I wouldn't be distraught if Richie Hawtin didn't make the list, and when the Rolling Stones lists their top 100 lists of the year - I'd be more surpised if anyone I listen to made onto the list then if they didn't.
Any list like this is going to have a bias towards the target audience of the site producing it. I just happen to be in that 'target audience', and this list closely reflects my tastes.
A few of my favorites didn't make the list at all - but then again, they don't really fit in with the "genre bias" of the site either, so meh - whatever.

I'm not really anyone's target audience. I don't disagree with a lot of what's on that list; as mentioned, I feel there's some solid talented represented. And if the likes of Dave Clarke, Rob Hood, Derrick May (huhn?) et al can get in there, then there's mos def room for the likes of Sims (who's rocking classic house and disco sets on top of his usual 3-deck madness) and Bone (vastly underappreciated Detroit talent). And personally, I can't stand run-of-the-mill pounding Techno - it gets really boring after a while. I'm as much of the Francois K./Sneak/Mystic Bill/Claussell/Peace Division camp as I am of the Sims/Clarke/Bone end of the spectrum.
I realise the bias inherent in any site/mag's 'top' lists - forums like this allow opportunity for people like me to make the necessary revisions...
P.S. - Richie and Ricardo can both suck a nut.
