so its now official. the last night at opera is on january 10th. i think the owners got lucky in a way. they probably got a money settlement from the new investors to buy back the place plus people will remember opera at its "best". and they get to avoid the shameful end that so many clubs in montreal go through (aka suspicious fires, mismanagement, fraudulous owners, etc....)

and like fullhouse predicts, i also think tribe is next to close down. owner in jail, no big name DJ has played at tribe since, the hype has long passed.

i don't think that's the type of information one would divulge on a public forum if he cares about his family lol

regardless..... the scene is healthy,

the house void tribe left on thursdays has been filled by suco, (tonic attempted but it died off) salon daome also has its own thing going on, but that was pre existing

the bookings arent of the same magnitude but again in my humble opinion thats just a matter of time

now opera's leaving sundays for auction, i'm getting curious ..

well if you're into a "specific" genre of house music, Parking nightclub has always worked on Sunday nights

The only venue that could rival Opera's capacity and potentially accomodate its former mass would be Metropolis, at something like 2500 i think

(keep in mind they have no problem going over cap, easily hitting 3)

1234 is easily half the size of opera, id say 1000-1100

I don't really go to Parking but I heard its cap is gigantic
then again its in the wrong part of town lol

while we're at it the biggest cap in the region is red lite pummelling these fools at a whopping 3200

Do you actually know what the capacity at Opera is ?

I don't think so

2 possible venues for them would be Medley or Olympia

1234 is actually pretty big if they can rearrange the space

The bar in the middle of the top floor is way too big

lol Okay MR, so what is the capacity at Opera?

And No Olympia has like a 400 people cap

Unless you're talking about the section where they host events,
which nothing except seeing it happen is going to convince me they can legally open a nightclub with regular nights

I'll give you Medley, i overlooked that one

and 1234 even without the main top floor bar isnt gonna hit the 2000 cap.
