As long as you're getting the 828MKII for next to nothing, go for it. It's a decent enough interface for most purposes.

Do it.

I went from FL to Cubase and I it was the best decision I ever made. Would suit your music even more too. There's a copy of Cubase Studio 4 (it's what I use) over at KVR for £100.

It gives you a cheap upgrade path to Cubase 5 if you even need it too.

I bought Symphonic Choirs (PLAY edition) and got RA for free during this promotion. It actually went pretty smoothly for me and I got RA in less than two weeks, so I was pleasantly surprised. Of course, it shipped from southern California and I'm in northern California, so that probably had something to do with the quick delivery. Hope you get SC in time for the holidays!

BTW, I had the old Kompakt version of SC as well, but the new PLAY edition is much better and was definitely worth the upgrade, particularly the way WordBuilder is implemented. It's much more intuitive and usable. Also, I never thought I'd say this, but I like the new PLAY interface much better than the old Kompakt interface.

Mmm, tempting. I should really be cutting back on spending, though. As much as I want this, it's going to have to pass

I hope so too!

How are you finding RA up against Ethno (another product on my wish list) ? The two appear to be around the same price range. I could really do with some fresh World/Ethnic samples.

Ethno has more instruments plus a lot of cool ethnic loops; RA has higher quality samples IMO. Also, Ethno is apparently no longer supported by MOTU - there haven't been any updates for it in years.

I posted some comparisons of Ethno, RA, and Kontakt 4's ethnic instruments at:

The RA samples sound very nice. Either way it will be a while before I can buy one

I'm adding one more. Even though bass is my main instrument and I have several fretted and fretless electric and acoustic basses, I still really want this. Is that weird?

No... I've avoided turning this into a job since I started. I just have expensive hobbies
