i personally don't buy into the "always do XXXXX" advice. sure, many times you should cut the extraneous frequencies you don't need, but sometimes you shouldn't fuck with something that ain't broken. different situations call for different reactions.

Using too much high pass can really screw up a mix. It can result in this wierd sort of effect where all the sounds don't really fit together, and they all seem to be cut from different songs.

I love it when people who have never had a release try to analyse what one of the biggest trance producers should have done to fix his mixing.
