Well, 2009 was my first year actually trying to learn production (and only really the last 4-6 months) but I loved it. I'm definitely trying soak up as much of a knowledge base as I can and apply it all in the studio.
Well I joined this place in 2009, and since it was my first production-oriented forum I've been learning a lot about the things I've been doing wrong. I don't know how to fix a lot of my production problems yet but I have plenty of time to fix them.
I also discovered Olympik through here so that's always a plus.

i personally made a gigantic leap forward in 2009 i never finished so many tunes and i actually started to make music that i personally really enjoy and its good enough to dj in some cases
Made a few good tracks. Signable, but not good enough for the big big labels so I didn't bother pimping myself.
Despite the fact that I have a way better setup and 15x more knowledge than I did 5 years ago, I can't make anything as good. Guess the desire just isn't the same as it used to be. Either that or all the booze has killed off the creative part of my brain

it was a good year for exploring my sound, but a horrid year for completing tracks
same, but also have been getting involved alot more with the local scene as a DJ and had my first release on the second to last day of the year
nothing huge but definitely a milestone, 2010 is lookin good (as long as i dont get lazy)

Your primary focus should be making good music. That's all. No one gives a shit how you do it. And the people that do are fags.

youve been doing it for ALOT longer than i have.. production that is..
but if i could give you any advice...
it would be to stop drinking even if its for a month.. cuz 2 weeks intop it your brain clears... then the 3rd 4th week etc gets better. and you become this weird creative being - sounds gay i know- but still. you dont realise how clouded everything is whilst drinking.
i used to drink every thursday friday and sat night cuz i used to go out all those nights and i forced myself to stop. never regretted it one bit. now i just do it occasionally.
best decision EVER!
