The first part wasn't really structured but designed to flow, if that is possible. Sort of a path-of-least-resistance style of programming, which did lead to oscillations between beats and ambience. It works for me, but I can understand if it doesn't for you.

The second part I was actually more apprehensive about sharing. It's a much more straightforward mix but because I played the slower psy at the beginning I'd only left myself about 55 minutes to play a prog set, and it's quite difficult to do a satisfying prog set in that time period without it feeling rushed or too abrupt or without chopping down the tunes to fit them in. Especially since I was playing several tracks that would be close to people's hearts.

Glad you enjoyed that part, anyway, and I appreciate the honest and thoughtful feedback. I've never thought about "twinkly melodies" as something I look for, but perhaps I do.

Stole my steez!

Listened to the first part while at work. Helped me settle down my grumpy, cranky mood (don't ask, rough day). Good stuff.

I know there are more people out there who have this than have commented. Even if you hated it or found it so boring you stopped it halfway through, I'd like to hear you say so.

Don't be greedy.

Finally listened to the second half. Like a lot of your prog sets, the tunes are mint but, after Asura, the set remains flatlined. I didn't get much of a sense it was going anywhere, simply content to be a track showcase. After the varied first part, I was a little disappointed by this. Oh well.

Been meaning to get to this but I've been caught up in a lot of album listening lately. It's up next on my mix list though, comments to follow.

First time I heard this was just the second part, which I loved. Was a lot more interesting hearing the entire thing together (also was surprised by how it was all one complete thing).

I'm always confused by Chilling Moments (Ambient Mix). When the hell was that released? I can only find it online on that Greek newspaper cd.

Anyways: first part was very smooth and enjoyable as background music. Second part I enjoyed a lot more, just because of it's style. I completely love that Holden track, one of my favorite songs ever since MMII. Got to love Sacred Cycles and The Baguio Track. One question: what was the track that kept having the vocal sample about not seeing something often on an air force base?

Great mix all together, good mixing as usual, very enjoyable. Good work

Thanks for the bump, Lews. Glad you enjoyed it. Answers:

1. I don't think Chilling Moments (Ambient Mix) was actually released to the public unmixed. It's on several compilations though, and I just used the Greek rip because Diggers barely mixes it.

2. The track is Asura - Life^2.

Flatlined? It goes up by 10bpm in 50 minutes...

I realise I'm a bit late to the party.

But I notice around here you're a tough guy to please when it comes to trance, however I also noticed your positive reaction to 00 Flemings recent Essential Mix, so I'm hoping more of the same quality.

Will get back to when I've had a listen.

So yeah, finally got around to this. Sorry for the delay, I'm horribly unorganized in terms of "mixes in need of listening", and stuff tends to get lost in the fray. That and I've just fallen off listening to mixes and such for a while now, been really doing the album and singles thing, but whatever.

This was fantastic, I loved both sets immensely. What you had going in part 1 was great, and I enjoyed the incorporation of several different styles. The dubstep section in particular was quite nice, and set the rest of the set up pretty well. The flow here was great, nice and relaxed, lots of interesting things going on, and the mixing worked just fine.

Part 2, being the prog-head I am, was right up my alley. In particular, I found the transitions for this section solid as fuck. I didn't notice any dips in energy, and everything was smooth as butter. Silky Dirty through to The Baguio Track was absolute sex, and I probably looked like an idiot raving out in the car while listening.

Overall great job. I thought you presented a lot of fantastic music released over the last 10 years, all wrapped up in that SYSTEM-J style; which has yet to disappoint. Keep it up buddy.

I've only listened to part 1 so far but thought it was pretty good. In fact I actually enjoyed this mix a lot more than your other mixes (classics, spirit of '95). I thought the mixing was good and the tune selection was pretty solid throughout. The only track I'm still not sure if I like is the BT one. 4 years or so later and the production sounds amazing but I just don't love the orchestral section.

Just noticed the bump on this. Thanks for listening and for the feedback guys. I'm personally very happy with this set, and I put a lot of time into it, so it's really nice to hear people are car raving out there to it.

Tangil, about BT. I'd probably agree that the orchestral bit is my least favourite part of The Antikythera Mechanism, but it felt like the perfect ending to this set not because it's fierce and dramatic, but because BT glitch-detonates the whole thing. If he'd stuck to the script and had the orchestra play out some rousing denouement then it would have been crap, but he completely undercuts the bombast of the orchestra. It's a rare moment where BT seems aware of his excess and radically curbs it.
