msnbc,cnn,stewart,colbert > faux ...any day
stewart & colbert for comedy/satire... not news. Faux news has been all over the Haiti stuff like the rest. I'm not confusing news coverage with the pundits' opinion shows
Edit: i agree with you: our mainstream media is a huge joke; they're largely about advocating, and no longer reporting.

This thread has become laughable.
I'm pretty sure that everybody knows that every news show/station/entity/whathaveyou is biased in their own way(s).
Also, Stewart & Colbert may primarily exist for satire's sake, but that doesn't mean that they're incapable of raising genuine questions and touching on poignant issues. Stewart has actually produced some of the best interviews I've seen.

Indeed, thats why it's so funny that they are the best source for actual news on TV in this country.

they also (admittedly) edit footage to a degree regular news organizations are not allowed to for ethical reasons, because they aren't an official news organization. The lines are much more blurred and part of the problem IMO when people don't know that and regard those shows as "the news".
And i don't mean to detract from stewart... he does do some great interviews. But he'll be the first to tell you his show isn't news.

Yeah, it isn't news at all really, but in terms of commentary they beat all the networks easily.

I think that the writers of the Daily Show realized a few years back that many of their viewers were taking it as their only news source, so they made a specific effort to become more credible. John Stewart is exemplary in his ability to interview someone who he completely disagrees with and yet maintains a respectful tone, and keeps the discussion about the issues, not emotion.
The interviews aren't extended. After the interaction has taken place, the editing department trims it down for the show, but the full interview is usually put on the site. I don't know if they have a set length they try to keep it to, or if they just let it run its course.
When he travels, John Stewart checks into hotels under the name Stewart Johnson. I was behind him in line at a Hilton once, and had to put some effort into to containing my laughter.

Lol. Standardized test scores are as much of a indication of your intelligence as being able to successfully boil water is of your your cooking ability.
Jon Stewart is as much a credible news outlet as Fucks news, the only difference is, he knows he's a joke, unlike the scared people watching fucks. The other difference is that Stewart has integrity even though he doesn't take himself seriously while fucks news has no integrity but thinks it's the all providing oracle.

Yeah, I know I was just illustrating a point. I'm not actually suggesting John Stewart and Shepard Smith both take the Wechsler test and compare scores afterwards.

Scared people watching Fox? lol. I would actually like you to show me one example of Fox purposely distorting or editing the news in a way that is unethical or backs up your lack of integrity claim. I'm not talking about pundit opinion shows, I'm talking about the news.
One can't say the same about the left wing hack machine MSNBC, after they PURPOSELY edited this video of a black guy holding a gun at an Obama protest, cropping out his head and arms so he'd be assumed to be white, and go on to say "having this kind of stuff at rallys has racial overtones" and "it's troubling with a man of color in the White House." Watch for yourself.
Here's an actual photo of the guy. Show me one example of Fox doing this shit.

Funny how many times Ive seen teabaggers on other political threads post that same MSNBC clip followed with that pic of the black dude, so predictable.
Faux news would need at least ten page thread illistrating how incredibly fucked in the head they are.
Whenever a repuke gets into trouble and has a press conference the teabaggers disguised as news anchors swap the (R) next to their names with D's, that's one of their many dirty litstle tricks they pull.
They also inflate those teabagger rallies, hannity was caught with his pants down showing an old clip of all those losers and had to opologize on his next show.

It's really sad and depressing that our comedians are the ones asking the most important questions. Stewart is very intelligent and definitely more worth watching then any other commentator on television. Fox "News" is simply a joke.
