anyone who doesn't use vinyl shouldnt be considered a dj. you can photoshop something to perfection, but it'll never be quit the same as drawing something by hand flawlessly and only one of these two people will be considered an artist. same goes with DJing. anyone who uses laptop's cd's or any other type of media is not a dj, theyre a machine operator

I've been saying for years we don't need DJs....play good music and no one will care who the DJ is....hell if the music is good I could care less if it's a pre-recorded set and someone just presses play.
The reality is that this scene is not about the music as so many people want to believe it's about. It's all about the DJ....which is really retarded when you think about it.
Obviously I'll disagree to that although I'm sure your being facetious...
And I love the new avatar...

It takes away its organic feel. Every mix is perfect. Flawless. calculated and smooth. I miss the varied styles that djs would have. Cutting in and out, mixing in the middle of a track instead of waiting for the outro, etc etc. Now you drop it in tracktor at the outro and wait for the intro to ride in.. BORING!
DJs who cant even beatmatch. Thats like calling someone who microwaves food a chef.
So called djs with no skill who undercut the real ones. These are the guys that will come in and charge a club $50 or maybe even nothing because they pirated some program, illegally downloaded tracks and know how to do airport dj booth flight signals with their arms. This is why as a club owner id pay real money for real talent and if i caught someone using this device theyd be out on their ass.
The cool thing about these programs is that djs can remix tunes on the fly and do their own unique edits right on the spot. However there were days when acapellas, a crossfader and properly placed stickers also achieved this although not many could! (which made it even cooler)
Every point agreed with 100%...
Problem with these ppl is they never got the privilege of watching it all done. So they have no appreciation of the artistry...
You and I are very lucky Jay...

LOL...these people?
who exactly are "these people"?
all the DJs that have been partying for at least a decade and have seen vinyl slowly fade away? or maybe big names such as oh I don't know...Sasha, BT, half the tech funk/breaks world, so on and so forth are all using Ableton or traktor right?
there's a reason for the change. It's not like there's no effort doing a digital mix because idiots such as yourself and jay have no idea about how much work goes in prep before the gig and at times even during the gig. yes there are idiots that only fade in and out 2 tracks and those are the bad seeds in the bunch that give laptop mixers (not djs because that's only a term used to save the hassle of explaining to people) a bad rep.
