After waiting in line from 8:30 (being delayed about 45 minutes getting lost and looking for parking) to 11:30 to get in , this event was closed by the Fire Marshall at 2 a.m. due to complaints by neighbors over the noise. So 3 hours in line, and 2 and a half hours to decompress from the mosh pit (er, I mean line) and dance!

Spacerockerz set was going off well when I got inside, looked for a drink but this was a no alcohol party. Dunno what happened with Martin Roth's set, he was looking very frustrated, train-wrecked a track and pointed to the equipment, finished set early looking pretty pissed to me. Coone wasn't really my thing, so went back to the Subliminal tent and there was some great music in there. Came back for Ronski Speed and he played some great tracks, but right when the place was totally rocking, the music was shut off! Not only that, but the promoters were up front of the stage bragging how they brought in some big names, asking the crowd to yell out DJ names, etc. then announced that it was over! There was an MC all the way through Ronski's set, like twice during every song.

There are some things that can't be helped, like the weather and the cold, but other things could definitely be improved:

  • Parking - was a free-for-all, just park anywhere. I wound up in a lot back besides a small warehouse. Ironically, the guy from the garment shop who was working inside was out in the lot talking with two girls. He didn't know what the party was about, but when I mentioned Ronski Speed and Martin Roth, he knew them both and started talking about how he loved EDM sets by PVD, Tiesto, etc. This was so cool, running into a random stranger in downtown LA who liked EDM and gave me tips on where to park, made the world seem a lot smaller! Had I not talked to him, I probably would have left and forfeited my ticket, as I thought the gate to the lot would be locked, or my car would be towed or possibly broken into back there.

  • Line - I asked two different event staff where the line was for will-call. One (standing right next to the line) didn't know, and the other told me that there was only one line for everything! So people with hard tickets, will call tickets, and no tickets were waiting in this huge line that went 15-20 people across. My friend, who got there later, only waited 40 minutes in the same line and was in before me! Apparently the outside was going faster than the inside. There should be a separate, clearly marked, line for will call and ticket holders. After three hours in that line, my neck was so stiff, it still hurts today, and my feet were baked potatoes before I even started dancing!

  • Will-call check-in was 4 people with sheets of paper looking up names, crossing them off and getting signatures. Took a few minutes to check ID, search for the name, check the person off the list and have them sign. At EDC, Vanguard and most other clubs, your credit card is run through a little machine and out comes the ticket(s) in a few seconds. That alone probably could have cut the wait down by at least half.

Was still a fun night dancing to some good music, but I wouldn't go back. Promoters do learn from their mistakes (EDC, for example, which has come a long way), so next time might be different. Will post up some pics once the Swedish massage is finished and I can move my neck again!

Here are my pics, if anyone else was there, do you know the name of the song Ronski Speed was playing when they shut the event down? It was an older very fast instrumental Trance track, possibly a remix, but it had only played for about a minute and I was too stunned by the shut down announcement to capture any of it on video. Anyway, the one minute of it that I heard was the song of the night for me...Ronski tried to bring it up again, but the Fire Marshall doesn't really care about ending a party the right way...

A few more HERE

Yeah wasn't this the second time big issues came up? first being their generators blowing up 45 minutes before 4AM in pico?

I guess the promoters didn't grease the wheels enough to let the party continue.

haha no that was a different promoter (FRESH) who actually has Myon and Shane 54 Feat Aruna LIVE to make up for what happened at their Fresh Anniversary Event. They got Ashley Wallbridge and another trance headliner TBA.
