This is why the whole notion is fucked up. I ate sugary items and drank Coke every day of school and I was both one of the fastest cross-country runners in my year with a BMI of about 18. Stay the fuck out of people's lives. |
Firstly, you have shit teeth, which you've admitted yourself. I'm sure your food intake hasn't helped them.
Secondly, what works for you doesn't work for everyone. Up until a few years ago I was eating KFC three times a week and still maintaining my weight with no exercise. Others put on weight far more easily. I was ranked nationally for my athletic event while eating pies and that kind of rubbish every day.
Thirdly, it's not so much about controlling obesity as it is setting up good eating habits for the future. Once you get into a rut of eating poorly, it's hard to get out. If we teach children maths and English at school, why shouldn't we also teach them nutrition, aided with a bit of practical work?
You must have been fucking skeleton. My BMI is 22 and I'm often called skinny in the pejorative sense.

In addition to being not healthy. High sugar items would cause behavior problems. Not being able to sit quietly in their seats and concentrate on the teacher. So considering that they'd be hyperactive it wouldn't surprise me you could run faster. Unfortunately, running around the classroom isn't conducive to learning. |
Actually, I was a good runner because I played sports every lunch time. Eating sugary foods doesn't give you cardiovascular ability, much as fatties everywhere wish it did. And I was one of the top students and never had a problem concentrating.

I have shit teeth because I declined to wear a brace when I was a teenager. I don't have a single filling or cavity and my dentist praises the condition of my teeth every time I visit him. The only problem is my out-of-whack canines.

Which is exactly why you shouldn't restrict the behaviour of everyone due to the problems of the few. Introducing generalised laws because fucking idiots can't regulate their children's diets punishes everyone out there who can exercise common sense and self control.

I was taught nutrition at school. Has no impact either way on my point.

I was. I had a strong bout of glandular fever when I was 13 and lost over 14lbs of weight that completely set back my physical development.
