Yea but the whole point of EDM, or at least trance and techno oriented genres are sequenced electronic drums. But it would be wicked to have someone doing a hybrid performance, half sequenced, half live.

Why? The whole point of EDM is sequenced and automated everything, so why does it matter?

I dont understand the question.

In general the point of playing live is interaction between the members. Band chemistry is the main point od live music.

you are definitely right that DJing isn't as conducive to creative performance as playing live, but I think with parties it's more a matter of function over artistic integrity.

I didn't like rave/clubs music at all until I started attending events Accessible & monotonous music is important for groups of random people to enjoy together.

You have a cool idea, sounds like something in the vein of Tangerine Dream. Go for it! Vocals are tricky though ...

(by the way, having played in a discopunk band that performed at raves, I can say that it's a real nightmare to set up! we were booked for two sets at a festival - the first night was fine, helpful technician, had everything we needed although the monitoring wasn't great ... but on the mainstage the technician had been told there were "no bands" performing so he didn't even have a mixer with enough inputs to plug in our sampler, drum machine, keyboard, etc ... it was a complete gongshow but dead silence is obviously unnacceptable at a party so I DJed a bit & then our vocalist did a solo set - fortunately we were somewhat prepared for this possibility ... just a warning!!)

live will always be the more rewarding experience of the two but as others have pointed out Djing is far more practical.

they could just dj their own productions. would allow some more special sets, and u could sort of call it live maybe.
