yea you should be fine. only thing is you'll need to get familiar with when to get off the bus. the bus wont let you know what every single stop is. only major ones. just ask the bus driver to let you know and sit up front. if not you may overshoot your stop by a block or two in which case you have to walk a little bit. but its really not that big of a deal.

Is there still that flat rate for cabs from MIA to Sobe?

I think it was like $32 or something

Got my 7-day Easy Card in the mail on Friday, took about a week. I emailed them the day after buying it online about whether I could cancel or have it expedited, and they emailed me back a few days later that it had been mailed out. So, I'm ready to go with the transport now!

Oh, one other question: What's the best way to get a taxi in Miami? In NYC, you just put your arm up in the air and one's next to you in seconds. In LA, if you put your arm up in the air, they will probably just wave at you and keep going! I have even attended several 30,000+ people massives here and there were only a handful of taxis afterwards. The key in SoCal is to call and ask for a taxi, then one usually shows up within about 15 minutes.

So, for situations where public transport isn't available or convenient, is it best to call ahead, wave one down on the street, or? I'm not going to Ultra, so would mainly just be in SoBe or coming back from the clubs in Miami.

awesome... glad the easy card worked out.

regarding the taxis... if you wave a cab down they will stop if they are empty. you're money to them. but if you've leaving ultra for example with the masses, calling ahead isnt going to get you a taxi any faster than trying to wave one down. the best way i think is it try and find a somewhat busy intersection where cabs will drive by but where there arent too many people around. for example, if at 5am you're trying to catch a cab back from south beach to your hotel in downtown, good luck on collins or washington. instead try and head down a block or two to pennsylvania or euclid. many cabs will drive right by but thats because they are full. eventually an empty one should come by and scoop you up. you can also call ahead and tell a cab to come get you, but who knows if itll ever come. doesnt hurt to call though.

305-532-5555 (this is the main miami beach taxi cab company)
305-444-4444

what are some other numbers tas? i forget and google isnt being too helpful right now.

This should work for calling a cab anywhere in the country:

1-800-829-4222 (1-800-TAXI-CAB)
Or, dial #TAXI (#8294)
