I think Schrödinger with this cat theory was the first to get into this line of thought.

Reminds of the book "is there life after death" by Anthony Peake.

Whoa, whoa - I think you're getting a little ahead, here. We're probably pre-post-post modern at this point. The world is just so blasé, but I can't stop thinking about how I never enjoy not thinking about how enjoyable things are!

well, i heard peter eisenman, the famous architect, use it in a lecture. i think he personally meant it more or less as a term that affords total creative license without the need to invoke the quasi philosophical/linguistic bullshit that supported his earlier life's work.

but it also encompasses other areas of architecture that aren't subject to critical theory, like vernacular architecture, recycled architecture, DIY architecture etc, indeed a rejection of critical architectural theory, and that's something I am definitely interested in - I did my thesis on the topic actually.

but i hate terms like 'post-critical' and to even use the term negates the purpose.

I've heard post-theory, with postmodernism being one of (if not the) key critical and cultural theories of the 50s, 60s and 70s.

The trouble is, postmodernism seems very good at devouring everything it touches and perpetuating itself, so it's difficult to see past it, at least while our cultural conditions remain largely the same. Perhaps the Internet is the beginning of post-postmodernism.

Yeah that's exactly it. But there are still ideas that are natively outside the discourse - of course by bringing them into the discourse you end up 'devouring' them as you say and it becomes part of the black hole of postmodernism. it seems to be basically the end of culture.
