"You are virtually the ring leader, the way I see it."
Then, I blew out the candle.

to Jeff on the opening slot for this party. There isn't a better choice in the city IMO. I can't wait to hear the sleazy, tripped out beats he plays before Satoshi.

This night is going to be a musical treat indeed. I can't wait!

Was thoroughly impressed by him in January. His set went down in my personal record books as the slowest set that I simply couldn't get enough of/stop dancing to. So intense. Too bad this is the same night as Markus Schulz! (apparently there's prog-style music everywhere this night)

Yeah, I hope so too.

I've got a huge paper due on that Monday. So, if I don't procrastinate too much, and I get it done by Friday, then I plan on rolling up to Toronto.
I can't believe the massive potential this weekend has. With Kyau & Albert the night before, and then this.... not to mention Markus @Guv, which I normally wouldn't miss for anything, but Satoshi doesn't come around very often..... and for 5 hours!!!!
Last time I saw him was WMC several years ago. He played one of my all time fav sets, disallowing me to take one step off the dance floor all night. I felt kind of violated that night, in a good way.

My review from nyc:

Everyone has their favourite deejays they'll travel the world just to see. Mine is Satoshi Tomiie.... After he performed for a minor 2 hours in Toronto back in January, I needed more of a fix. I still stand by and say that musically, those 2 hours were the best and most spiritual journey I've ever experienced. Then, his set was one of mystery and deceit, manipulating your thoughts when you close your eyes to confuse you with which portrayal of reality was real. Dark and melodic.. 2 Hours is not enough for a story teller such as Satoshi, and so, the story continues into an NYC chapter..

Sullivan Room as a venue was unexpectedly small, but impressive. I fell in love the second we came through the front entrance with no sign for the club, and went down the first flight of stairs, where above rested a painting of a blue goddess with a white mask. I was intrigued and excited to see what the club actually looked like after we went in. I felt a good vibe super early on in the night when we arrived around 10:30. There was hardly anyone there, but I took the time to enjoy analyzing and appreciating the layout of the club. It was about the size of Footwork (a club in Toronto), but had more of an underground feeling about it. It was sugar coated artistically with bricks as the main theme/concept, with random fantasy images etched on the walls. The VIP area was off to the side and didn't take away from the room; the antique seating was pretty neat. The dance floor took up a majority of the club, with the deejay booth on an angle by the entrance. There were some other chill out rooms, but I found there was way too much going on in terms of decorating that I had to be drunk before I returned to them, haha. I especially loved the hidden dark boxed corners at the back of the club.. it looks particularly useful for patrons who can't deal and want to hide

The placed filled up rather quickly after 1:30. The crowd consisted of an older group, lots of great dancers and university people. All in the same sometimes. The energy circulating through the room was amazing.. Toronto lacks this kind of crowd most of the time. I'm pretty sure the majority of people knew who Satoshi was. There were a few 'dodgy' individuals, but these seemed to come after 4 am... which I found a coincidence, considering Satoshi brought up his set to a different level at that point exactly. I turned to Kelly at this point and told her: the freaks had finally come out!! They were harmless but fun to laugh with/look at.

The opening Basic NYC deejays played suitable for the room; sleazy, deep, new york house music. I rather enjoyed it, as it's more of a rarity to hear these kinds of sets for most of the big parties back home. They set the slower tone nicely once Satoshi came on.

At 1:30 I couldn't wait any longer, and the dragon himself finally went up to the booth. After his live recording from his last Sullivan set, my anticipation at this time was unbearable! The good sir lived up to expectations, and played a very solid set. It takes great expertise to play a story time set imo. Satoshi Tomiie's ability to tell one is an art. His story this time was more visual.. as he painted every track - the dancefloor his canvas. As the duration of his set lengthened, the picture became more clear, showcasing an image so mystical and exotic that you can't look directly at it. Why look, when you can dance? Dance to blend the colours of his sound, painting a bigger picture. His set was more tech influenced this time around, but his signature sound was not lacking. The dark melodies were always creeping every other track or so... taunting everyone. In the past I always found Satoshi to be a serious deejay, with minimal crowd interaction.. but this was not the case this time around. Lots of smiling, fun gestures, and smirks! He knew we were totally under his spell! Once 4 am hit and all the crazies came out.. Satoshi brought out the true nature of his sound. The music had stopped, and eerie bird noises could be heard.. I shivered for a second. From then on it, the majority of his tracks were deep, dark, and twisted mindfuck tunes. The canvas had come to life and was melting.. slowly... At 5:00 he started to bring it down, playing more of a funky old school sound.. back to the basics if you may!

We left when he got off the decks to socialize just before 5:30, completely satisfied. Bigups to Sullivan Room for making him a resident.. there is no mistaking his talent. Thank you Basic NYC

I look forward to seeing him in Stereo.

Cribby, your review is fucking amazing!

This will be first time seeing Satoshi, I've wanted to see this guy since '06 and I've missed him every time.

I have this feeling that he's just going to blow the walls off of the place and melt a lot of people's minds.
