I dunno, I guess everyone's mileage may vary depending on when and where they play, but I haven't had any issues.

I haven't played any extensive outdoor daytime gigs with this one yet, but I do use it outside all the time so I haven't been concerned.

Plus OSX has been (or is, I haven't tried Windows 7 so I can't speak to now) superior to Windows.

They still use it because they are probably still trying to pay it off

The glossy screen looks fantastic both indoors in a dark setting and outdoors in the sun, mate. Some problems do arrive when there's a source of light right in front of you because it will reflect your damn face on the screen. What I do in such a case is turn the brightness up to a maximum and it helps a lot.

Anyways, you can't choose the screen type anymore. All Macbooks come with the glossy screen now since it's a single block of glass.

I think my concerns of the glossy screen are a bit over the top then, thanks for the opinion.

I thought you had the option of an alternative screen? Last time I looked the other screen was an optional £40 extra.

Yeah, the LED-backlit screen is so good that it usually just blasts through any glare, lol.

But, a simple slight tilt of the screen can also help in that situation.

In my opinion it's a better buy because they last longer. I bought my Macbook Pro about 3 years ago and I have absolutely no plans to change. Yes it cost about $1200 (employee discount ftw), but the only thing I've felt to change is the RAM.

haha you work for apple? me too!

/awaits an onslaught of pms asking for a discount...*sorry!*

My bad, just checked and it's still available. But only on the 15-inch and 17-inch models. It costs an extra $150 on the 15-inch and $50 on the 17-inch.

Nah FOX has an employee purchase program with Apple. We get like a 15-20% discount or something, I bought mine refurbished + discounted for about $1100. The only bummer was that I got mine in the mail the exact day that new Intel-Duo 2s came out and they were the same price

For anyone interested, I believe there's a trick to getting cheap(er) apple hardware.

If you purchase an Apple Developer account, you get a one-time discount on the purchase of any new computer or laptop. I haven't done this personally, but supposedly it drops the cost significantly, to around the price of a similarly spec'd PC.

Although the developer account isn't free, there's the most benefit for college/uni student developers, because if you can prove you're a college student (Faxing them a school ID, i think), the account is only $100(US) and the discount (supposedly) more than makes up for that.

And then if you're so inclined, you can always start building software for your mac

details here
