That's exactly the best thing about Lady Gaga: she's not fooling people! She knows her (insignificant) place in the bigger scheme of things, and parodies herself - and everything around her. She's like a twisted semiotician playing with signs we grew up accustomed with, rather than a "failed world changer" (such as U2) or a "self-absorbed diva" (such as most other pop acts).
You can't take her seriously, and that's why she's better than most other things I've seen in the TOP 40. Makes me miss the Prodigy when they reached the top of the charts in the late 90's: they lyrics were about nothing whatsoever and Liam Howlett would often sample the oddest of all things and turn it into something unrecognisable.
