i'll be honest, tiesto was the first DJ who taught me how to fly. I've attended PVDs@twilo prior to hearing tiesto@LL and it wasnt the same. PVD is another genre, a different flight. Tiesto@LL was a delicate flight but nonetheless giving me the goosebumps. Yea he cant mix for shit, it is true, but he was my first "goosebump" material DJ. Now ferry, I've only seen him 2x. once in miami for a 2hr? set at billboardlive. AVB was on prior to him. In miami his set was much much better than his at exits. Exit's set included "too many anthems" as dj tek said. and I didnt realize it until I had left the club and understood that. I mean ferry@exit did leave one lasting impression and that was when he dropped the 4 strings track. i guess its my appreciation for all DJs. i mean people can say he sucks this sucks, his trackselection whatever they want, but the fact of the matter is they are at the top. so let them be there cuz they obviously worked to get there. for the music not for the fame/money. |
this thread's title is called "what do u think of tiesto" Not 'what do u think of tiesto as dj' or 'what do u think of tiesto as a
remixer\producer',so lets see... Tiesto IMO, is a very talented artist, bringing his signature "dutch trance" sound to the scene, i was immediately hooked...(and many ppl all around the world too!)but lets look at something thats obvious.. DJs do not get booked all around the world because of their DJing skills... they get booked because of their status\fame\popularity... if u look at famous djs, most of them blew up because of a song they had produced or remixed...
Tiesto: His awesome remix of Delerium's Silence
Paul van Dyk - For an Angel
Ferry Corsten - Out of the blue(Under his System F alias)
to name a few... so my point is, that i dont think tiesto is the greatest dj, matter of fact, i think he has poor mixing skills considering he is a "pro" dj thats been spinning for more than 15+ years...but since he blew the fuck up with his remix of silence before this was noticed, hes fortunate to get away... its sometimes sad that real talented "djs" do not get the props they deserve but thats just the way this industry works.. because "the art of djing" is not noticed by ppl thruout the world compared to the songs being made by djs.. its much easier to like and appreciate a song than to appreciate djing skills...so.. there goes my theory about djs.. i hope i made some sense...i guess what i wanted to say about tiesto is
Tiesto : Bad DJ, Awesome remixer\producer... thats it!
