I don't think the AMD he's getting is triple channel though, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Stephen, sounds like your going to be upgrading in two years to me. I'd save an extra bit of cash and get better parts TBH, but if you don't mind upgrading sooner rather than later, I guess it doesn't matter.

If money is an issue, AMD is certainly worth looking into. And you'll probably won't even regret it. But if the only thing you care for is getting the best there is, regardless of the price/quality, then Intel all the way.
