I think one of these food places threads needs to be a sticky already.. or we need a proper directory or something would be good for visitors as well!

Who has been to Ruth's Chris? Is it really as good as people say it is?

Honestly .... its a big meh to me. I was there about 3 months ago, and i had got the New York Strip, the cut of meat was great. However it was overcooked ( i personally like my steak medium rare ... well closer to rare ish) the sides were cold when they were brought out. And overall service was poor but thats just the luck of the draw with your waiter.

Shit happens i guess. Generally its pretty good.

But if i had the choice for a steak house in toronto....

i would choose Mortons over Ruth Chris.

I hope that helps.

YÓu dine in the dark and get served by blind servers. I wanna check it out its been in operation for a while.

Don't know the website but try googling it.

So I went to Onoir (Montreal location) on Saturday night. I highly recommend it. http://www.onoir.com/

We were guided into the pitch-black dining room by our blind waiter. After sitting down, it was like my brain suddenly turned up my other senses to 11. After a few minutes it felt like I had eye-wiggles, not knowing where to look, seeing weird shapes (like pressing your palms hard against your eyes for a minute), then to absolute nothing.

The appetizer came and gave up on my fork and ate with my hands. Our waitress said yup... just like everyone else.

We ordered the surprise entrees instead of the menu to add to the experience, and boy was that ever a good idea. It was was outta sight (sorry, I couldn't resist). Not sure if I should say what it was, but I don't think anyone would have allergies to it. It was truly delicious. I did eat it all without using my fingers too.

There was a table with one loud biotche, who wouldn't shut up. I did throw a noodle in the general direction of her voice, so I hope I set her straight. Nonetheless I felt satisfaction for quieting down that cow. I can imagine the potential for food fights here.

Anyways, it's not a place I'd recommend for groups, but for couple or a date it's an eye-opening experience.

My sister in law went there with some friends and they said that the surprise dish was just a random choice from the menu. Though I think the "surprise" changes everyday, it's not a special dish. It's almost like if you're indecisive, they'll pick for you.
