So Planet Earth is back at 49€. I just used my voucher to get Himalaya: Pads. But Luftrum & Cinematic are really 2 lovely other expansions I will look forward to.
Alchemy Player is like mentioned a really limited version of Alchemy. However, in some patches you got amazing control and still can transform a pad into a bass or whatever. Some x/y pads giving you excess to the sound sources, where you can morph between them. So you can just take one sound out of a 4 layer pad and use that. So its not just only those 1200 variations like they say on the site, its much more under the hood.

I picked up the Alchemy Player and Planet Earth earlier.
Just got an email this morning offering:
50% Off Any Alchemy Sound Library
Save $50 on Alchemy + Free Sound Library
So I think I might bite and grab the full deal.
Question then, is which two sound libraries to grab?
Anyone have thoughts overall on Alchemy as a synth? (I've only had the smallest of plays with the Alchemy player so far, but will grab the demo before committing)

Debating between Electronic and JunkieXL. Anyone have either of these and care to offer any thoughts?
FWIW I already have Atmospheric, BigTone, Dance/Trance, Himilaya, Viral Outbreak, and Planet Earth (obviously). |
Care to offer your thoughts on the ones you've got?
I'd probably be more intrested in pads/atmospheres etc, i.e. more complex stuff, rather then straight basses/leads/arps etc, as I figure may as well get the more complex sounddesign stuff, but would like to hear your opinion on the ones you've got.

Alchemy is one of my favorite synths ever, hardware and software included. It's such a versatile and unique synth and there is nothing else on the market that shares its niche as an additive, subtractive, granular, and spectral synth. Its feature set is incredible, it's laid out in a surprisingly intuitive and navigable manner, particularly considering the sheer number of features and parameters, and it's stable. Also, the developers are top-notch in every respect - both Ben and Andy are very active on their forum (on KVR). I could probably find some nitpicky details that could be improved upon if I spent some time thinking about it, but they aren't even worth consideration AFAIC.

I'd suggest checking out Himilaya Pads, Luftrum, Ambient, Cinematic, and Biolabs, more or less in that order of priority. I don't have all of them, but based on the comments I've read and audio demos, those are probably what you're looking for.
My favorite expansions are the (1) Viral Outbreak, not so much for its presets, but primarily because of the size and number of included samples (which are freely usable in your own patches), and (2) BigTone for its presets and for just studying his patch designs. The Dance/Trance content (samples and presets) is very good as well.
