What! The sound system in space was incredible when i went there last year.

Well the funktion 1 was installed in 2003 and I was there in 2006 and 2007 and the back room sounded fucking turd. It's loud, certainly, and maybe it was the DJ's riding the reds on the mixer but still, one of those times was Carl Cox and I know he doesn't do that.

Maybe it's been improved but honestly, it didn't even make my top 10.

I do think some of the problem has to do with the building though and not just the system - shit was rattling hard in there and the bass was just boomy mud.

Just got mine in the mail today....I've been waiting for this thing for months and as a loyal traktor user, this thing is totally blowing me away. It is exactly what I've been looking for. I was initially gonna get two Kontrol X1s but I'm glad I waited a little longer for this. I'm still getting used to it, especially the filter controls, FX, and jog wheels but it's pretty much everything it's advertised to be. I have some complaints though....

It has only two input channels for either two TTs or CDJs meaning that 3-4 deck mixing with outside sources is impossible since there are only 2 inputs. This could be a major inconvenience for those looking to use this to double as a regular mixer. Also it's a little annoying that the main output consists only of a standard RCA out instead of an XLR main out b/c I currently can't even test out the sound quality of the product by itself b/c my speakers require an XLR connection. I mean, I knew this about the product before purchasing but in order to get better sound quality you'd need an XLR out no? And I know this is just a personal preference but I DETEST the headphone jack being on the front panel of the mixer like the old vestax hip hop mixers and not on top of it. The fucking headphone jack juts out towards you and keeps poking me which annoys me to no end. Also, there are a few minor functions of traktor that can not be controlled with the S4. For example, I can't switch from 4 deck mode to mixer mode to 2 deck+sample mode without having to touch the mousepad. Very minor, I know, but I just wanted TOTAL control if you get my drift, hahah!

Now I've got a few dilemmas on how to adjust my home setup to accommodate this new toy. I've got 3 CDJs, a pioneer DJM 800 (still waiting on that damn 2000 I ordered like 4 months ago) my laptop and now the S4. I currently have the 3 CDJs assigned to channels 1-3 and the S4 as channel 4 on the pioneer mixer. There's something about this setup that's not sitting well with me but I can't think of any other way to do it right now. Any suggestions?

Sounds fine to me... I'm not sure what it is that isn't sitting well with you. Unless you're talking about wanting to eliminate the DJM 800.

So i've been toying with this for 2 days now and I'm getting used to it little by little. It definitely takes some practice to get it right. Switching from deck A-B is no problem but you have to remember to press a button to toggle over to decks C-D. I finally figured out how to properly use the efx section. I almost wish there were a little trackpad or mouse built into it so I could toggle some things on the fly without having to touch the computer, but alas, you're still forced to touch the computer on many occassions.

I also wish there was a way to turn off the crossfader or wish it had a "thru" option. But that's not a big deal at all. If you're not gonna use it, you just have to leave it in the middle and not touch it or accidentally hit it.

The sound quality on it is just ok. It's not as punchy as I'd like it to be but then again, we're talking about digital music, not vinyl so that's to be expected. I love being able to set cue points on the fly and come back to them perfectly in time. The looping and sample decks are awesome too. It's definitely versatile enough to use for hip hop as well as EDM. And the jog wheels are small, but work very effectively. No major complaints, worth every penny if you ask me.

Just disable the crossfader in the preferences
