I don't see anything wrong with these guys trying to get some play time and opening for these other acts for free. Sure, it sounds like they work there butt off to get the opportunity but that's what you have to do to get noticed sometimes. Selling a bunch of tickets isn't that different than bringing in a guestlist to a club, something that all clubs want to see. If this situation works well for all the parties involved than all the power to them. It can be tough to get gigs for up and coming DJ's so any angle that works should be taken.

Although......I do find it odd that all these guys are posting from new accounts all of sudden and they won't say who they are!

I still think it's all about who you know, not what you know.
If you're an up and coming dj, go out to the clubs, make some new friends, find out who the promoters are and hand them a decent demo. show up to their future nights and continue to schmooze, you'll get an opening slot no problem at some point.
I think these guys are just trying to fast track you. Which is good intentions, but DJ's still need to get paid, regardless of timeslot. An opening slot wouldn't pay much, but you're selling tickets to a party that people probably won't even come to see you play at. You're still playing to an empty room, and you worked your ass off to make them money. You're open slot is basically just an incentive to sell more tickets. Talent means nothing at this point, or so it seems.

In direct response to your supposition that the AudioAcademy is profiting from the shows, you are incorrect. We've actually made a commitment to our team NOT to take any profit from our monthly shows for the entire first year of operation.

Further members of the Collective are paid for each ticket they sell. If they choose to keep the money they can. If they choose to invest the money in our learning seminars they can.

If you like, feel free to drop me a line and I'll send you the full contact information of all 15 members so that you can get a sense from them if any one of them thinks the arrangement is unfair or skewed towards the AudioAcademy in any way, shape or form.
