Of course concentration is a skill. Whether a person has ADD or not, it can be practiced and improved upon. I don't think that should be a basis for determination of whether ADD is a valid condition or not though. The fact that so many people who don't have it yet take the medication to improve their performance is one of the biggest obstacles that it has in being accepted by so many people. But just because some people abuse something doesn't mean others aren't using it legitimately.

Yes, I was probably being overly hyperbolic. What I'm getting at is if you just call it "A problem with concentration" then people would view it merely as a weakness that needed a lot of work. By calling it a disorder it becomes a medical issue, and then it's a lot easier to start resorting to medication.
And personally I don't think there's any legitimate cause for medication with ADHD at all. You'd have to show a seriously fucked-up case study for me to think meds are the answer.
I don't mean to distract you ADDers but you gotta check out this video.

actually ADD is all in your mind, you've put yourself into that mindset regardless of it existing or not. you don't need drugs to help you "focus" you're just not trying. had all those silly drugs for ADD/HD before, they just tweak you out and steal your appetite.

Well, if they didn't work for you, I'll inform everyone that legitimately has it that they're wasting their time.
