PvD progressive?? WTF?? na he used to be progressive and dark... now he is just pansy and light and boring (production-wise), but his DJing skillz are a different kettle of fich. That dude can spin the ass off most DJ's you care to name (with a few exceptions)... So to some it up.. PvD Producer (nowadays) = over-rated, PvD DJ = Never been over-rated

Some of u have fuinny ideas of what progressive is... prog can have a breakdown/build up, it just happens in a sometimes different way... check out horizons by james holden, or timo maas - better make room... they both have amazing breakdowns in them as for being the same all the way thru, thats not what being progressive is... progressive trance, each tune is progressing within the tune... ok i give up its hard to descrbe but i know what i mean. It isnt conventional trance i guess..yeah alot of prog tunes havent got a huge breakdown in the middle of them (like basically EVERY uplifting tune) u dont need them for energy

peace

p.s. vorsprung dyk technic is a ver aquired taste, its got a lot of the old old shit as well as some of the new tunes at the time (nearly 3 years ao) it doesnt really go along with what he plays now

p.p.s. out there and back is wank bar 3 or 4 tunes...

Thumbs up right on!!!!

i totally agree with tranceclubber about PVD. He has got some amazing tunes. his out there and back cd might be a little more mainstream, but who gives a fuck - the songs still kick ass. and as for his live sets, HOLY SHIT!!!!! they are beyond awesome. not all might agree with me, since they might not listen to the type of trance he spins or produces, in other words they are listening to something like progressive. PVD is NOT progressive, just compare to Seaman, Sasha,.......

Anyways, this guy is simply amazing. Not only does he spin and remix, but also produces his own stuff, alongside having a wife......this guy goes 24/7.....one of the GODS of trance..... oooh, this topic should've never been brought up......

Pvd's sets are magic! He's IN-FUCKIN-CREDIBLE LIVE! He'll take U on a beautiful, emotional, powerful rollercoaster. 1 minute, ur dancing ur ass off the next u can be on the verge of tears. He manipulates the crowd like no other besides Sasha & Junior Vasquez. I'm planning my entire Ibiza trip around seeing him at Cream, Amnesia at the end of Aug.

i read something PVD said, and it was that he loves to see people get emotionally into his music, that is the kind of music he creates, and it kicks ass - as stated above MAGIC

peace

Smoking ..umm..something Why is this category even up?

This is just stupid. The only people that will ever understand PVD is for the people that heard him back in the underground days. Ditto nuff said take this topic off. Stupid overrated crap. For you trance newbies I wouldn't talk. You can shove that progressive mainstream down your asses. All this critcism of high build ups and not enough progressiveness is just bullshit! You don't know what trance is!! I may be a big fan of all those other djs that do that high build ups but you compare that to pvd you wouldn't even understand anything. He is one of the best mixers and producer to exist and thats a fact.

Wow dissention in the ranks. I always figured PvD to be a respected DJ by everyone. Personally I have never been obsessed with him like many others, so I wondered. Now it's becoming sorta aparent that this idea isn't a foreign one to everyone else. Funny...I'm really surprised. Sure Oakenfold bashing is normal, but PvD? That's strange, but yet not unfounded. peace.

Shame / Disagreement

Well.. first of all. Like eurotrancefla73 first said : "I haven't heard much of his music sets" if You haven't heard much of his music sets, then you probably shouldn't give such a statement. If u are not sure about something how can u give it a statement. By the way, I saw PVD two weeks ago, he totally blew the place up. I totally think he deserves what he has done. He is one of the very top DJ in the world. There is nothing wrong about that.

Cool

I would have to agree. Paul van Dyks singles are nothing to be blown away with. I dont really love any of his own releases except We Are Alive. ALTHOUGH, he would have to be one of the best live that i have heard. He serves out consistantly good trance, and no shit at all, which is hard to find in many live sets.

If he was Dutch then mayb that would be correct..thats a dutch name and all but one thing is he isnt dutch he is german and they dont use the ij for the y's...and he spells his own name as Paul Van Dyk so if someone spells his name a certain way it should be correct...
