punk is so not dead. i don't know what you've been listening to, but its not punk. there are still a lot of bands who have a lot to say, and still put out a lot of good stuff. if you're talking about that watered down pop-punk stuff on the radio, then yeah, you might say punk has lost its edge. but those bands don't represent an entire genre. besides, even bands like blink still have a lot of good songs, they just don't make it on the radio.
bad religion has been punking it up since the 80s and they haven't lost one bit of their wit and intelligence. the dropkicks are still singing about working class struggles, and nofx is as funny as ever. the issues aren't the same anymore, but punk rock's message is still the same. punk is alive and well.
