Euphoria. I bet its just hype.
Its like jumpstyle a while ago (well that wasn't in the USA). There was a little hype here and suddenly "jumpstyle" was cool.
Same with dubstep, its just a fancy word, hyped. It will be over before 2011 ends.

Is there any difference with with wobbly dubstep, the breakish style dubstep, and the dubstep that has rappers rhyming over the beat? Basically what I guess I am asking is... are there any sub-genre's within the dubstep genre?
Dubstep seems to be so trendy these days... I hear people who weren't even into EDM in the past talking about dupstep all of a sudden. *shruggs* |
Well, I hear people referring to the wobbly stuff just as "wobble" or "wonky" dubstep, the rap stuff is "grime" (Grime is actually a slightly older genre than dubstep, but both have their roots in some of the more abstract UK 2-step garage, and nowadays grime has merged into dubstep). The more abstract, melodic dubstep (Martyn, Burial, Scuba, etc) I've heard referred to as "future garage" once or twice, but not sure if there really is a distinct name yet.
