How is Sochi doing? I heard there's a massive influx of labour to construct the stadium there. I'm from Irkutsk - my city has suffered massively. Impossible to do anything over there to do with business (mafia, but mostly government bureaucracy); and the low-wage jobs are being taken over by illegal Chinese immigrants. AIDS has really increased since Soviet Union collapsed, same with drug trafficking.

В следующем году мне будет 27, так что об армии мне боятся не надо будет! У меня полностию канадское гражданство, они меня в армию не смогут потащить ...
Sochi is doing great, most people I knew there are relatively well-off today. One of the few places in Russia where population, standards of living, etc. went up in the last decade. Many jobs, city is being modernized and rebuilt on a massive scale, value of properties are now higher than even in Toronto. But not so good in other parts of Russia, unfortunately. Thats why I think they should have done better with 2014 Olympics and 2018 World Cup - there are other areas of the country which need the money more.
Unfortunately I haven't been back since I came to Canada, thats 13 years ago now. I am hoping to visit next year, plus for the 2014 and 2018 big sporting events ... and not just Sochi, but Russia in general, and then possibly come back to Canada with a Russian girl as well
