No, no, no... it's very simple. Mixmag is a British publication, and so this poll reflects UK tastes. Armin, for all his ASOT online simulacra success, has never been that big in the UK. And trance hasn't been big in the UK for years. The list is combination of big names in the current trendy styles - 2manydjs, Andy C and Villalobos representing electro house, drum 'n bass and techno - and 90s UK "legends" such as Sasha, PVD and Tony De Vit.
Clearly the readers of Mixmag are evenly shared between up-front clubbers and grizzled 90s veterans. Tiesto's career arc probably straddles both of those, with his 90s trance days endearing him to faded Gatecrasher acolytes and his current poppy stadium electro direction keeping him in with the kids.
