Yes Oakenfold had some highs (not including coke binges), but when you fall as far as he did you can't be a contender for best ever.

the fact is that i'm more into tiesto now than ever, all happened when someone opened a few months ago a topic called "The few tiesto's sets that are worth a listen" i started downloading sets and..... i liked them a lot.

The next step was when in a supermarket i saw ISOS3, only 10€ , a lot of the tracks in the track list are considered classics so i bought it and well it's being a 80 min friend in my hard studio sessions :S the mixing on this is not the best thing , on the other hand i couldn't care less about this, but it's relaxing and musically attractive.

Tiesto has something than the others doesn't have, in my opinion Carl Cox is technically better than tiesto for example, and i thing Richie Hawtin on the 2nd spot is overrated but Tiesto is legend you like it or not

Tiesto has covered more genres, Armin has been always about fluffy trance. Tiesto explored all trance subgenres, added some techno touches from time to time and now is into house. One year left or so before Armin follows him.

No, no, no... it's very simple. Mixmag is a British publication, and so this poll reflects UK tastes. Armin, for all his ASOT online simulacra success, has never been that big in the UK. And trance hasn't been big in the UK for years. The list is combination of big names in the current trendy styles - 2manydjs, Andy C and Villalobos representing electro house, drum 'n bass and techno - and 90s UK "legends" such as Sasha, PVD and Tony De Vit.

Clearly the readers of Mixmag are evenly shared between up-front clubbers and grizzled 90s veterans. Tiesto's career arc probably straddles both of those, with his 90s trance days endearing him to faded Gatecrasher acolytes and his current poppy stadium electro direction keeping him in with the kids.
