this party was fucking amazing, dieselboy,tiesto,digweed and carl cox it cant get any better!

only 2 things that bothered me were the time of day and a crowd im not quite used to ( wasnt so terrible like some make it out to be)

all in all, if u think this party was bad or didnt go because its to "commercial" then you honestly have problems and complain WAY TO MUCH

just dance have fun dont worry about all the minor details

You forgot Tim Skinner. I felt so bad for the guy when Tiësto left the decks and he was on -- the whole area in front of the DJ booth just emptied It's not exactly easy to follow up Tiësto's set... let alone being followed by Digweed's set...

No, no urine sample, but i was backstage to watch him hit. I had the courtesy not to take pictures of that. As far as coka use in trance music, its a pretty common sighting among djs, as well as, of course, alcohol. Tiesto also made his actions pretty clear when he left the tables for 10 seconds to dip backstage. I don't see why everyone is bitching at me for saying something 'so horrible' about him...I dont think its a big deal, at least not a bigger deal than E (which is very difficult to spin on, therefore, very uncommon).

As far is the music goes...his set was progressive trance at best. He threw in some trancy songs...southern sun, mindcircus...he also backdropped more trance songs (ie. in my memory, tactfully accompanied by the "In My Memory" promotion on the screens...lol www.inmymemory.whatever...haha). A lot of the time, he was giving us a taste of the trance but not letting it play...it was excruciating to get my hopes up and then not hear those songs.

His set, as well as Tiesto himself (hehe), had a lot of energy. The intimacy came from the fact that he was playing for such a small crowd...I think he enjoyed that. He set was flawless from a technical aspect. I was also impressed with how well he spun his new stuff. Never stopping for a minute, always pushing more sound, and effects out of the music. Of course I would have rather see him spin a pure trance set, in the likes of tranceenergy, or dutch dimmension. However, Tiesto is Tiesto. It was a lot of fun to see him spin again. It was also great that he remembered that I went to his boston show 3 days earlier. I wouldnt have thought he would.

on other notes...digweed stole the show, acting much more maturely (not raising his arms in the air every 10 seconds), and even though he didnt have as much personal energy...his music selection was much better, and the crowd responded more.

cox was cox...basic basic...good for the first 5 minutes, but then everything seemed to be the same

dieselboy was very impressive, he was keeping high beats and opening well for the 3 headliners...but what was up with his annoying mc...i wanted to throw shit at him

Yeah, people, make up your freakin' mind... you like trance, progressive, what?! Educate yourself about the music, then criticise. Tiesto's set was pure trance with some darker/harder elements here and there, and I am loving the change he made in his playlist (adding a bit of progressive/harder material), just so he goes a bit with what's popular these days and in the direction where this whole trance scene is going. I mean, if he played a pure trance set (you know what I am talking about) I would've kicked him in the head, straight up, even tho he's my favorite DJ. And yes, he worked the crowd like a champ...

Digweed was all right, nothing special, jut good old boring Digweed with a few outbursts of energy here and there. Not much comment about him... not overly impressed with the set either.

And then, there was Cox! That guy simply stole the show from all of them... as much as I love Tiesto, I gotta admit, Carl Cox is a freakin' champ! He started off with a crazy electrifying techno/house (or whatever that was), and kept getting harder, more energetic, just better and better! That set was the SHIIIIT! This guy was just too good... god damn! Tiesto spun his usual (expected) stuff, while I couldn't recognize one song Cox played... amazing, just amazing!

That's right. The thing is though. Does it really matter what "style" of trance it is? To be honest, I do not know the fucking difference between all of them and I do not care. As long as it sounds good I will listen to it no matter what style it is. there is more to music than trance people that sounds just as good and can be mixed with one another.. as I do. . Fact of the matter is if all music was the same forever, not just music, but our way of life was constantly the same thing, then Life would be a boring thing. Face it, trance will die some day, just like Rave did and just like the 80s did. They were all good eras, but nothing lasts forever. So enjoy this era of music while it lasts and it has been lasting longer than Rave did. So quit fighting amongst useless categories and just call the damn thing Trance. Who cares? It sounds good, listen to it. No matter what "style" it is.

My friend smoked a joint with him in Egypt (because there you really get to meet the DJ!) and Tiesto is usually rolling....he was chewing on tissues as my friend says from grinding his teeth......so yes he does drugs....I don't know about coke though!....let him enjoy himself as he wants, as long as he spins well and he has proven that in the past!!!

and from the tracks i've seen, it wasn't progressive....he can't play a 100% trance set everytime like dutch dimension....you need a little flavour and he likes or chooses to sping prog as well!

I had a great time at this "Music Festival".... I say again "Music Festival". It wasn't supposed to be a rave or a club night. So for those that criticize this event because of the setup or atmosphere, remember that Moby created the Area Fest to share different genres of music to different people.

I spent most of my time in the dance tent but ventured to the stage to catch Blue Man Group and Moby. BMG put on a pretty funky show that was really impressive. Their show would have been a lot better in the dark with all the black light colours they use but it was still cool to see. Moby put on a great show as well. I was happy to catch most of his tunes that I know. He was perfect to chill to and lie on the lawn after the tent closed up.

Dieselboy spun some crazy DnB but it was loud as hell. I find DnB difficult to dance to but still enjoyed the set. Tiesto spun a decent trance set. It was rather predictable after reading the reviews of the previous Area 2 shows but I enjoyed every track he laid down. He went beyond what I expected so I have no complaints. ...and if he was spinning on coke, he managed to pull off quite a show on the decks. The crowd seemed like they enjoyed it too. Digweed pretty well spun the type of prog I expected. I liked him better during the delta heavy tour but still danced away to his set. I think its amazing how he can make a crowd move to a set thats made up of mostly unknown tracks. Wicked dj. Carl Cox was the one that really suprised me. Probably because I never heard him spin before. I thought he interacted with the crowd perfectly and threw down tracks that really kept everyone moving.

Overall the event was well worth the $57 spent. I was able the spend an entire day dancing to three amazing dj's and still see some great live performances. If Moby puts together another great lineup like this for Area 3, I'll definitely attend...
