I have to agree with Z and edubbz.

I understand that you might not be as familiar as, for example, edubbz with the techno djs that come around NY, but how do u think he got familiar with them? Looking up the djs, going out, d/l'ing sets, etc, etc, etc. You're just lazy. I could give you my opinion every once in a while, but the truth is only you know what you like. Wander around soundcloud and get your hands on everything you can get. How do u think we did it when there was no internet?? MIXTAPES. Passed on from person to person. No lie.

We are willing to help, but it's kinda retarded to just expect us to tell you where to go. Totally lazy clubber.

I think it sparked some interest so Ill take Edubbz advice and bump it every once in a while- if your interested cool, if not move along- pretty simple.

but, creating a thread every single week? thats not necessary and we dont need this place having 5 threads of, hey whats going on this weekend...that creates a mess here (also find it quite annoying). not to mention, the farthest that thread will get is no more than a pg, two if that.

make this your official thread weekly, bump it every now and than and problem solved.

also, bear...who are you & where did you come out from?? i find it funny that within half a yr of being a member & only under 10 posts...you only pop up to bitch...at least taurus is an active member, therefore i can tolerate him a lil more.

i don't really see how my post count and/or the time i've been signed up to this website makes any of my opinions less valid. i thought message board elitism had died in the last decade, but i guess i was wrong.

i live in new jersey, i don't have a car since i'm a college student at rutgers, and everytime i go to the city it costs me at least 35$ in transportation costs. combine that with tickets and alcohol/whatever, and i can't really just go check out DJs or venues on a whim.

i'm not asking for other posters to tell people like me or taurus whats good, but rather to tell us what they think is good so we can go online and check it out for ourselves.

we're all music fans here. i guess i just don't see the problem with giving out recommendations and sharing, and don't see the benefit in withholding out artists because we're being "lazy" clubbers.

I have no problem with this being an on-going thread.

Parties I'm looking for the rest of month:
-2/20: Gary Beck @ Amnesia w/ Mind Control
-2/25: Drumcell @ National Underground
-2/26: Ben Klock w/ DVS1 @ Good Units
-2/26: Troy Pierce @ Sullivan Room

Long live techno

I also recently got into techno myself so I will definitely put my input. Another good way of getting to know Djs without going to the shows is checking out the beatport charts, and checking out techno shows such as Drumcode.

hell, i'd like it even more if there was one stickied "weekly techno shows" thread up here... it'd let me know about my options, and would help me even find new music. i think that techno is well enough defined that people would know what to post in there.

If you want to see more techno events here... post them up in the event section or the party planner thread. That's what they are there for!

Instead of complaining that there aren't enough techno events posted here... why don't you post them and then start the discussion within the thread. BE the change that you seek!

Do we need a weekly Trance or House thread too? No, so we shouldn't need a Techno one either if members would utilize the parts of the forum which were created for these purposes.

There you go!... its obvious people do KNOW about these events, no one wants to go through the trouble of posting the threads. Not aimed at you personally Frank... Just trying to make a point.

Thanks Frank, I also agree that this thread is helpful for those who may not know WHAT is actually a techno party. Until you posted the events that you were looking forward to I had no idea half of those events were even Techno parties, also in the past you have recommended parties I should check out and ones that may not suit my taste and I really appreciated it and in hindsight after listening to some of those djs you said may not be all that to me - I saw that you were totally right. Anyway i dont see why one thread out of hundreds is such an issue. Thanks for posting your list of parties since it made me check out Gary Beck and I like his style of music and will try and check out this party. I think thats the whole point of this thread- not to have to hit every single thread and say "is this a techno party? what kind of techno is it?" to get the usual replies like "check out youtube or soundcloud, or just go and listen for yourself, experience new sounds " blah blah blah- like everyone else I have limited free time and funds to just spend on a party and hope its the kind of techno/music that I enjoy.

Long Live Techno- as well as those who dont mind sharing opinions on Djs instead of acting like its a classroom and just telling people to go out and do research.
