yeah spotify is just setting the standard. bigger better companies will copy the idea and make it international and expensive and then artists will get on as most are sick of labels. cant wait... only reason i still have mp3 is for mixtapes, white labels, oldschool and Tool. even CDs are more common than mp3 for me now, i have only 8GB of mp3. maybe each of the big music companys (sony, emi etc?) will make their own platform for streaming and monthly subscription. atleast thats what they should do - or better yet agree on a common platform.
