Androids had this for more than a year, I tether my Cappy with iPad all the time.
Thats pretty sweet actually, can't do that with an Iphone though.

No, the LG Android tablet is a "glasses-free" 3D tablet.
(like the new Nintendo 3D-S units that are out)

I'm an IT guy, and being able to walk around my office and enter information is going to be very very useful. I already do it on my phone, but the screen is too small for some of the spreadsheets and docs that I am looking at.
I have wanted a tablet for 10 years. I have had every major platform for PDA/PPC/Smart phone in the last 10 years, and I am excited to finally see tablets coming out.
The iPad is really for content consumption, which is why I have been holding out for the Adam. The ability to actually plug in USB devices to it, makes a huge diff IMO. Couple that with HDMI out, and it is basically a laptop, but more portable. The iPad has the exact same problems the iphone does, and iOS does, it is too hard to get stuff on and off the damn device! Plug in a sd card? nope. Plug it into any computer and load up files? nope. You have to go through their systems which makes it much less flexible. This isn't going to be a problem with some other tablets.
The other reason I am getting the Adam, is because of the Pixel Qi screen. You can actually read it without a backlight (and in the sun!), which you cannot with any other LCD. This means, for me it will double as an eReader as well. Having so many technical documents and 'text books' will be very handy.
I have a netbook, and a regular laptop, and I want something in the middle, which I believe is a tablet. I even modded out my netbook at one point and put in a touch screen, but it just wasn't up to par.

As cool as that is, I would be weary of having that on my knee because it looks like it has to be COMPLETELY STILL in order for it to work.
Ahh...did you not see them swiveling it around? Quite a bit of movement required for a racing game, like they were playing.

ya i did, but for normal uses like on a chair or couch it may seem like it could fall off your knee (as a whole stand+tablet) if the strap/wire wasnt wrapped around your leg... which is kinda extreme if i really want to keep it still seems bothersome.
its a cool concept.. something that was bound to be invented anyway.

Tabs are huge for me. I can typically have 5-10 tabs open at a time, using middle click (mouse) or ctrl-click (trackpad) to surf with great efficiency. Using a tablet just seems slow and inefficient, even if individual pages open quickly.
It all depends on the app. If you have only ever experienced the iPad you are going to be frustrated. With android you can install many different types of browsers.
The custom browser developed for the Adam is all about tabs.

Of course they aren't new, but technology is evolving. And its not because Apple came out with a tablet that people are now finally buying one. But more and more purposes for them are being found.
Netbooks attention is now shifting into tablet form. Tablets perform similar and different functions anyway.

plus I'm sure every company is trying to phase out netbooks... there's literally no margin on them
loving all the different products that are bubbling up, can't wait to try the playbook especially. maybe, just maybe, it takes rim off the backburner as they have been absolutely left behind the last year or two

- ability to be used like a drawing tablet
If tablet PCs in the $500.00 price range become capable of taking hand-written notes like my newly acquired convertible Fujitsu t730 win7 P, it'll start making me feel like I made my purchase too early!
I sell off customized business solutions, so I personally need a device for heavy content creation as badly as I need it for content consumption. On a daily basis I compose presentations from many different sources, present documents/apps/videos on the fly (and when your brand isn't not well recognized - your first impression CAN be your last so make it good & be prepared!!), take notes during meetings, etc. This Fujitsu is like a blessing, its only disadvantages being maybe the price and weight! But I calculated that if this speeds up the sales cycle of 1 or 2 sales... the price is already justified!
I'm still probably going to purchase the PlayBook, based on what I am seeing, it will have amazing utility in basic marketing activities (i.e. whether its trade shows, coffee shop sitdowns, door to door, or just used to "back up what you're saying", etc).
Personally I don't give a damn about surfing the web at Starbucks (that's just a nice bonus) - I'm paid for sales. My time is extremely important and all this tablet technology was needed 10 years ago for the "common" mobile professional.

For the male laptop users... be warned, your balls are getting cooked if you have it on your lap for long durations.
ipad2 is coming out in March so current models will be much cheaper soon
