Nah, I'm just kidding...
Seriously, I'd get Reason. I've been using Reason for awhile now and I swear by it. Although my productions are still not "pro" they're getting there and that's all that really matters. |
They're not even close man, I mean, you're getting better but you're about a bus, a train and a trans Atlantic flight from Pro. Not to discourage you, because everybody sucks at first, but you've got a lot of work ahead of you.
| quote: | | I've used Fruity Loops too. And it seems to be just as powerful but with the ability to use VST's and VSTi's. You can actually integrate far more additive and subtractive synthesizers as well use, a variety of other tools that will enhance your music production. |
..............What the fuck? Almost every single synthesizer that has a VSTi version has a version for every other DAW, and if it doesn't, it's most likely a shit synth. I use Logic and I have never run into a single decent synthesizer that hasn't had an audio unit version. I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say here... "integrate far more additive and subtractive synthesizers..." That's just fluff....? It just seems like you're trying to sound smart, lol. Additive AND SUBSTRATIVE? OH HEAVENS, THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING. For srs. What the hell are you trying to say, lol?
| quote: | | But, I've found out that its not what you use, but how you use it. A lot of producers download massive libraries of samples and integrate those into their productions. |
Duh? There are people who do crazy 8 bit shit with a Gameboy that sounds better than most of what you make
| quote: | | You have to first decide on whether or not you want to make your own samples or use others. Or a combination of both. I made the decision that I was going to use samples for beats, fx, rises and drops. |
Once again....... duh? And why do you have to "decide" that? You basically said "You have to decide unless you don't want to decide."
| quote: | | For bass lines and melodies, I'd get good at drawing. Drawing is where you open up the "piano roll" in any given program and draw the notes that you want played. For most people, that's the asiest way to profect the the track your trying to make. Some just bang out riffs on the keyboard. But depending on your knowledge of musical progression or how well trained your ear is. That could be somewhat daunting. So again, I'd encourage you to "draw". |
Drawing in the piano roll isn't something you sit there and "work at." You just fucking do it and over time you can do it faster, lol. And why would you ever discourage somebody from using a MIDI controller keyboard? How the fuck is that daunting? It's called, play a melody, and fix the parts you mess up on in the piano roll? It's EASIER to come up with a melody on a keyboard for somebody with ZERO experience than to point and click at some tiny ass keys on a piano roll.
| quote: | Other than that, a lot of are more than happy to provide feedback. Usually its mostly negative until you get the hang of it so don't feel bad when someone says your track sucks. Remember, most of us were dj's first and we're picky about our music.
Best of luck to you and hopefully one day you'll be on beatport's top sellers list =) |
Uh, the feedback is negative when you suck. When you don't suck it's not negative, but people give you suggestions and advice for how they would improve the track.
Let me put this out here. I don't detest you yet, but you seriously need to STOP GIVING ME REASONS TO.
