Anyways, the one and true peaceful religion is... Buddhism.

Theresa is only defending the muslims because she was in an interracial relationship. She knows what it's like.

I presume you're talking about the bullshit bans on the niqab and burqa in France. Their justification for banning it is the biggest load of garbage I have ever heard and I think it sets a terrifying precedent. It's pretty scary when you start allowing the government to dictate what you can and cannot wear... next they will be banning skirts that are too short and t-shirts with offensive messages.

Stay the fuck out of my closet and out of my personal business. Wearing a niqab/burqa does not impose any real threats to anyone other than making those who are already anti-Islam nervous. If you're going to claim safety, then you should ban ski-masks, any costume masks, wedding veils, beards, sunglasses, make-up etc. Anything that can distort your facial image and make it more difficult to identify you is arguably a threat.

If it's about preserving secularism, then ban priest and nun garb, ban monk robes, ban people from wearing a cross, ban the turban, etc. etc.

If it's about protecting these women's rights and giving them freedom... well then, they are simply confused. Taking away their right to wear what they want does not in some way give them rights or more freedom. As a result of this bullshit ban, many of these women are going to feel forced to live as hermits, never leaving their home. That does not promote freedom. Besides, banning something that you think is oppressive is not going to change the root of the problem.

This is just poorly disguised discrimination and it pisses me off.

Maybe this can help you understand the concept behind this

Laïcité is a great thing, what Sarkozy is doing with it is a shame.

It's their freaking culture. It's like telling an Jew not to wear their little hats. They do so willingly. I don't understand what is people's problem with other people's choices.

The problem is that it interferes with the laws of society (identification and so forth). If you don't like the laws, you should move somewhere else.

The idea, however, that ALL women are forced to do this is stupid. Sure some or alot are, but a good portion, regardless, do this by choice (feminists' like lilith will laugh) but this is the truth. The women see the covering of their hair, for example, as a way for men in society to judge them based on their minds not their looks. An analogy would be if a women walked into your office in a bikini, would you really be interested on her 4th quarter report? or would you be more interested in a lap dance?
