Hmm? I haven't paid more than $180 to fly to Vegas from SFO in years. Even this MDW my flight was $156+tax (United) - of course you can't just fly in on Friday and leave Sunday. Extend the trip a day and you'd be surprised how cheap the flights can get.
I'm like you though - my Vegas trips per year have steadily gone down over the years, but this is primarily because of my the finances of my friends that actually want to go clubbing there. |
Because of gas prices things have def changed in this regard unless oyu book far out most of the time, and I mean real far out. Yeah, there are usually good sales but often there just aren't right now because gas prices. Hell, last LAX->SFO flight I took was $181 ONE WAY on a Tuesday (it didn't matter what night, $181 was the cheapest across all airlines w/ tax for every day of the week) and it never went down over a three week period before I finally caved in and had to buy the ticket fearing they would go up more (never did, but still...sucked paying $181 just for one way)
Flight before that with LAX-->SFO-->LAX was $250 roundtrip and I waited nearly two weeks to see if a sale happened with that.
That said, I just booked a round trip flight from SFO-->LAX-->SFO for next Mon-Thur and it was $150 roundtrip. The sales with airlines happen, but it's more sporadic. Before you knew some sale would happen pretty much every week one at least one airline. Today, nada. Hard to guess.
You are starting to see a lack of Tue/Wed/Thurs/Sat deals more and more like you used to.
And prices are only going to go up.
