How about you explain why it's not a newb thread and how the number of tracks a person uses is important, let alone "badass"?

Vocal track, around 100. Instrumentals usually only get to about 60 or so. I could use considerably less if I used racks for FX and such. I just prefer to group them instead.

I originally thought this was a thread about pattern blocks instead of fx channels?

And I don't believe this is a dumb thread, but just one where we can discuss about what our workflow looks like. It's not like it's a bragging thread.

I for one only produce using Moog voyagers recorded by tape pressed into vinyl. I also put a tube around my wires so I get tube warmth. I can also hear up to 20,000 hz because my ears are just that good.

Hmm no, this isn't a newb thread. Touche.

You can get up to 100 channel strips easily in your next project. Just get some audio or MIDI down in one channel, then chop it up and spread it across 50 tracks. Do the same for another piece of audio, or import 100 little FX noises and put them each onto their own channel. Hey presto, another 100 channels.

I hope being bad ass works out for you, as opposed to caring about how your music sounds!

Yes.

Layers of each instrument, sometimes a separate instance of a synth for a small part(those add up), using multiple simpler/samplers instead of a rack, and I admit I have a problem with effects alone taking up 20 channels. LOL.

I usually use about 25 to 60 tracks on a given project.

100 is pushing it unless you're laying orchestra or choirs etc - I think that if your just making mormal EDM and no string or vocal sections and getting to 100, you've not got control of your routing, sends, bouncing or decision making.

The most tracks I've seen worked on for a project was one particularly large film I was assisting, and that one PT session had just over 500 tracks, split over 6 fully maxed out PTHD rigs and took 30 passses to print the master cue. And yes, it sounded fucking great.

I don't know,I just think its an accomplishment if one is able to use 100 channel strips in a production,I also think its quite an accomplishment if you can only use around 7-14.I just find it interesting to see how many strips other producers use in their productions, thats all.
